Locking Dear Sister spawned 2 more threads. Seems like a simple warning in the thread while keeping it open would have accomplished more.

In addition they were already off-topic in Dear Sister. If the conversation were allowed to continue it may have become something much better.

First Thread in question: Some thread with links to some stuff that was already in the big sticky at the top of the page and some song, both of which we have threads for. Thread locked, just like every other thread that has done the same thing.

Second Thread in question: Something that could have easily been sent as a message, which violates the second rule. Thread locked.

In retrospect, if Nechrachilles simply asked me why his thread was locked, I would have been more than happy to tell him. But his combined "if others can do it, why can't I?" and "I'm mad that you locked my thread" didn't really help anything.

To play devil's advocate here, shouldn't there be a balance?

We don't want the ridiculous Blizz mods who do shit without explaining why and are basically a bunch of faggots.

But we also don't want this board to become a shit pile of crap threads about nothing. If I logged in and just saw a bunch of random threads like:

I don't see it as over modding, so much as trying to make sure this board doesn't become the absolute asshole of the internet (like 4chan) but more like the taint of the internet.

He does have a point though, there's a thread already for all the random video crap. If some attempt to contain it weren't enforced the board would be 50% youtube junk (I'm thinking with an influx of bh posters).

On the other hand, spouting variations on threads such as Dear X is older than the BH forums, and occured regularly.

So mayo, if the thread did not include the video links, but included something equally inane, would it still have been locked?
