If the information is classified then it should remain classified. No one is saying the government should have total opacity... but when it's about matters of national security or intel, especially in a time of war, then that shit should be kept under wraps.

The people who leak the information should be charged with treason and killed.

Considering that risk already exists, I don't think the supposed deterrent of punishment will make the leaks stop.

It's too easy to classify everything and use the excuse that we're at war. Carte blanche in the name of security has never been a good idea.

And do you really think everything is classified because we're in a time of war? Of course not. No one is saying we should do that, either. Information should be classified if it can be used against the country in any harmful way and that information should be protected as such. Those who violate their non disclosure agreement should be punished... severely.

One way or another, they'll never be in a position to leak again.



I don't think everything is classified for that reason, but I don't appreciate that classification is done by those who potentially have everything to hide. I don't like wikileaks for putting people in danger (supposedly, and I could buy that it's a real danger) by exposing everything, I like them for exposing what should never have been hidden.
