With the expansion now out, everyone is leveling up and gearing up. But does anyone know what the fuck they're doing in heroics?

I've found out the hard way, we do not. So for those of you who are about to endure the pain and anguish that a heroic dungeon brings. I'll share with you my experience and strategy for the dungeons I've done.

Heroic Blackrock Caverns

1. Rom'ogg Bonecrusher:

Start by pulling all of the packs in the room, especially the one closest to the cage where Raz is kept.

His earthquake will summon adds which need to be killed immediately because together with him, they hurt really bad. He will pull everyone to him and create chains that bind you all together and to him. You must target and break these chains, they are called chains of woe.

There is no difference from normal to heroic except he hits a lot harder and has much more health.

2. Corla, Herald of Twilight:

On heroic there are 3 adds instead of 2 on normal.

She has 3 adds which you cannot kill and are having a beam channeled into them. You must interrupt these beams. They place a debuff on whoever is standing in them that stacks to 100. Once it hits 100 the player/npc transforms into a dragon, this will mind control players or spawn an add that will wipe the party with our current level of gear.
The beam functions as they did in Netherspite, you stand in front and take ticks until you move away.

Preferably you'll have more range than melee for this fight. Have your ranged and healer each take a beam and stand in it. Tank the boss where she stands and when your dps/healer get about 80 stacks of the debuff. Another person must drag themself between all 3 of the beams for about 24 stacks each. This will allow your dps/healer to clear theirs and resume standing in the beam. I did it when we killed her, as the tank.

If you do happen to spawn an add, your dps must nuke it immediately if you wish to survive. You can backpeddle during shadow strike if you have no interrupts and most of the time you won't get hit by it.

3. Karsh Steelbreaker:

Hands down the hardest fight in the instance on heroic. At the pull he takes 99% reduced damage due to his armor. You must pull him through the fire in the middle of his room to give him stacks of heated armor which make him take more damage. These stacks also deal aoe fire damage upon application and a continued dot as long as they are active. When these debuffs clear, he summons adds and goes back to taking 99% reduced damage.

Your tank must pull him in, 2 stacks at a time until he reaches 6 stacks of heated armor. DPS must blow the everloving shit out of him because after this wears off, it gets messy real quick. His adds will spawn and the strategy we used to kill him was as follows:

The tank will pick up all of the adds and the dps will kill one at a time. When one is about to die, the tank will begin to drag him backwards as the adds summon a lava pool on death that will superheat his armor by 2-3 stacks. These lava pools do not despawn for a long time so it works best to kite him in a counter clockwise or clockwise circle around the fire pillar. When all 3 adds are dead he should have 6-7 stacks on him which is right what you need. Rinse and repeat until dead.

4. Beauty and Friends:

This fight is basically a gear check if nothing else. If you have CC it makes the fight INFINITELY easier. Beauty will pull with all 3 of her pups and all 4 hitting your tank will be extremely hard to heal through. I popped 50% damage reduction and still died during a fear because of the massive damage coming through. Her pups can be feared, sapped, sheeped and whatever else you have.

We crowd controlled 2 and killed 1. Beauty still hits very hard mind you but it's much easier to deal with when it's just her. Also beware of being too close to Runty as he will pull if you get close enough. Stay out of lava pools and turn the pups away from the party for fire breath.

5. Ascendant Lord Obsidius:

This fight isn't too hard, even on heroic. Designate one dps to kite around the 3 adds. They move very slow and this shouldn't be an issue at all. He will switch with one of his adds and the tank will need to pick up the boss while your kiter picks up the add. The adds channel a debuff that reduces healing received by 24%? per application so the tank cannot have any more than one at a time. Overall it's probably the easiest fight of the instance.

Heroic Shadowfang Keep

1. Baron Ashbury

First off note that party damage is very low if not nonexistent until the final phase of the fight with the proper interrupts. So if healing, you can afford to leave the DPS/yourself not topped off.

The most important ability this boss has is called Asphyxiate. He will lift the entire party into the air and literally force choke you down to 1 life. A DK tank can AMS it but otherwise you just have to take it. Immediately after he will begin casting Stay of Execution, which heals both you and him for a percentage of your health. This must be allowed to tick 2-3 times or it's quite possible the tank will die. Interrupt it after you have enough health.

The next ability is called Mend Rotten Flesh. This will heal the boss for a percentage of his health and must be interrupted. He uses it about 2-3 times between Asphyxiates.

He channels a spell called Pain and Suffering which can be dispelled or interrupted and must be unless you like your healer running out of mana.

At 25% he will cast Dark Angel form and begin nuking the party with AoE shadow damage. This is the lust and burn him phase. It doesn't tick for crazy amounts but enough to where your healer will not be able to keep up with everyone eventually.

More coming soon. Being lazy.

And next time in "Lucinth's Heroic Guide to Heroics", we will be discussing:

Heroic Shadowfang Keep
Heroic Throne of Tides
Heroic Lost City of Tol'vir
Heroic Deadmines

Stay tuned! I'm going to work.

EDIT: And for the record, Heroic Deadmines is the best 5 man ever conceived. Also, CC is very important for some of the dungeons but I'll get to that and difficult pulls when I come back. With the exception of Shadowfang Keep where a priest is better. Bring a mage/rogue/shaman if you can!

Don't tell me you don't remember Cziiki's 2-post long explanation about how to do the first trash pull in Sunwell.

Thanks for the guide. Its good to know the additional abilities that are encountered in heroic. I had to break out my fear cc macro last night in a run and the healer was amazed someone actually had and used a focus cc macro, lol. I have to change the scripting at the end of it though because when I clear focus it still yells that target is feared.

9 level 90s and 10 85s, Damn I need another hobby.

Okay I'll update it in the morning.

I spent my time learning and perfecting strategies.
