Left my auth at home and I would like to reply to that thread, so if one of you could quote what I paste here and stick it in that realm forum thread, I would be much obliged.

I have not noticed anyone complaining about the tanking on this server, though I assume that would only be referring to heroics. It is a strange difference between tanking heroics and tanking raids. Many heroic tanks other people are coming across, and thus complaining about, are probably main spec dps'ers who just made a tank spec so they don't have to wait in 40 minute queue times. Thus basing general tank skill of the whole server based on what you see in your/their random daily is just silly.
Aside from the tanks in heroic randoms being generally unseasoned (for lack of a better term), most tanks (I would assume) run threat spec/dps gear/aoe spec for heroics. Pull as much as you can, as fast as you can. No one is interested in spending 2 hours in heroic dungeons at this point so a lot of tanks probably get antsy because they are spoiled by their guild being smart players, and just assume that all players are like that.
Bane had some helpful general tips there for tanks going through heroics. A distinction has to be clear between tanks you see in heroics, and raiding tanks. Really a different ball game. Heroics are for aoe builds, raids are for survival build. In the perfect world I would be carrying a few sets (suits as snuss use to call them) for whatever I was doing, but the opportunity to collect that amount of gear has not come around yet.
In reference to those people on here who blindly shout "Elitist jerks noob! Read for yourself" or "tankspot > ej"...I would caution the use of those sites for a few reasons: 1. If you actually read the threads (I admittedly read ej more than ts, but get a good amount in at both) you will CONSTANTLY see contradictions. One guy will come out with 100% solid proof about a particular ability or stat priority...which will just be instantly contradicted by the poster afterwards. It is good to read for different perspectives, and sometimes even humor. But you must take their declarations as opinion and nothing more. 2. "Best in slot" gear lists are opinions. Please do not take them as the "word of god". Yes some of these opinions are from tanks who have been around for years in the raiding scene and sometimes their advice and priority of gear makes sense. But you have to remember that this is just their take on the gear...as stated in #1...a post directly after that will show 100% foolproof math that one piece on the list is worse than another piece. Please use these list as just a very general guideline. 3. The most important thing is to do the research yourself. Do experiments on different sets. Worldoflogs.com is such an amazing tool to use when analyzing your avoidance, survivability, threat generation, confirmation of patch theories, gear comparison, ability/item uptime, etc. Just because someone lists "Symbiotic Worm" as a BiS tanking trinket, does not actually mean that you should be always using it. There are thousands of factors that go into that. How good are your healers? Are you on a fight dipping you below 35% often? Are you taking too much spike dmg? I just recently did several wol comparisons for myself from the last two weeks to compare and contrast patch changes, stat priority proof, and trinket uptime.
I strongly encourage all tanks to run their own private wol parses on all raids they tank and start to learn on your own instead of relying on sites like ts and ej. They are good to start out and get a sense of the things you need to be looking for. But eventually you will come to realize that you visit those sites less often and instead are spending hours (at work in my case) pouring over wol captures to find ways to improve.
You mentioned in the op that you are interested in knowing what active tanks are around for reference or someone to bounce ideas off of. I think that is a great idea and in the past that was the number one way to compare/contrast gear and learn new theories. Snuss and I spent hours chatting about gear, stats, etc. back in the day and it helped me a great deal when I was first starting out.
Henqetnetjer (Warrior) Tarthas (Paladin) Holycor (Paladin) Articbear (Warrior) Fruitdealer (Warrior) - formerly snuss Veroth (DK) Vallina (DK) - Former hunter, but I believe she tanks for Tabbed Out now Bovinepwner (DK) - Not his main, nor a raid tank, but he knows a great deal about all his alts Zaryi (Paladin) Aestu (Paladin) - Not sure if he still plays prot Kamguh (DK) - Not sure if he still plays
No offense to anyone left off the list. This was just off the top of my head. Any of these people above are good reasons for tank discussion or at the very least an armory inspection to see what their gear/spec strategy is. Most of the names on this list also regularly parse on Worldoflogs.com. Comparing them to yourself could be another form of learning.
herosquad.us/forum also has several threads dedicated to specific class tanking. Though those, the warrior thread in particular, is detailed almost to a fault so use caution when reading it. I would not want anyone blacking out from boredom and hurting themselves.
Thanks and hope some of this helps

If one of you guys could post that up for me that would be great. Thanks a lot.
And also if there is discussion that comes out of this in this forum that would be good as well.
