Vid was short and to the point, I wonder if it's serial this time

http://www.zerohedge.com/article/hacker-group-anonymous-brings-peaceful-revolution-america-will-engage-civil-disobedience-unt

"The goal - engage in "a relentless campaign of non-violent, peaceful, civil disobedience" until Ben Bernanke steps down and the "Primary Dealers within the Federal Reserve banking system be broken up and held accountable for rigging markets and destroying the global economy effective immediately.""

Anonymous gets by without getting serious attention because they generally only engage in mischief no one particularly cares about and that causes relatively little trouble. If they start futzing with things above their station, they're going to get smacked down, and not just by the powers that be, but also, once they're exposed, by all the smaller targets they've hit over the years. Anonymous will find it very difficult to remain anonymous once they start fucking with serious people.

I don't ascribe to the notion that anyone is "above their station" in a country supposed to recognize equality. And if they go about it right and don't break any rules, who's going to crack down on them? We're not a police state yet.

Anonymous, in most of their past 'peaceful, civil-disobedience' stunts used DDOS attacks against systems. Since they're using DDOS attacks, aren't they breaking the law? They need to either cultivate or use a botnet to employ that type of attack and I thought using someone elses' system without their knowledge is illegal. I wouldn't be surprised if their website defacements are illegal, as well.

Good luck to 'em, but as Jubber said, they're eventually going to pick the wrong fight and lose.

They had some special report on Anonymous with the NBC Nightly News and the guy they interviewed was probably the best person to represent Anonymous.

That being said, I wanted to grab that 4channing faggot from the TV and knock every tooth out of his head.

I don't think they care that they're breaking the law, and I don't think they think they're going to get caught. They don't expect their targets to like it and play along.

And to be perfectly honest, I think the government is not the most dangerous target when it comes to the chance of being caught. Not exactly cutting edge, and the private security firms they hire to handle these kinds of things get their asses handed to them by anonymous almost instantaneously.

Let's wait until they fuck with China or something, then we'll see some real shit go down.

I'd be willing to take that bet if they actually did something to seriously piss some higher ups in the NSA off. I don't think anyone who knows anything about them actually takes them seriously. I mean hell, the interview I posted looked like it came from that shitty Hackers movie from the mid-90's.

Also wanted to add that in terms of structure, Anonymous is almost perfect to avoid real trouble. They are almost the perfect terroristic organization... they don't have a leadership, they are simply a group of people with shared goals. You can't cut the head off the snake. Sure, the FBI could catch some of them who are bad at what they do, but then what? It won't actually stop anything, and they will be entirely unable to hand over any others.

Unless the feds had the capacity to simply shut down any such activity before it occurred, or track down the perpetrators with ease and speed, then there isn't any stopping them. And it doesn't help that the causes Anonymous takes on are generally relatively popular.

The government can't realistically do shit to them.

All it takes is something that pisses a lot of people off for the whole thing to come crashing down.

In that movie's defense, it was to many of us our first intro to Angelina, and such holds a special place in my <3.

Dek also makes good points, if a fight with Anonymous went down, it would be tough to take beat Anonymous- also vs China... they're probably trying not to bite off more than they can chew at the moment,

and mayo depends on the results of their actions- it's to be determined whether or not what they might do could benefit and be appreciated by more, rather than piss off. Pissing off the banking cartel though is quite a bold move if they actually go through with it. Not exactly the best step towards self-preservation.

You can't defeat something that has no structure. You could, at best, take out the tools they use, but they can't ever really get at the actual people. Sure, every now and then they catch a few of them, but that doesn't stop them because no one member is critical in any way.

It would be like trying to stab fog.
