An oldie, but an absolute gem. Halo 2 is by far the biggest disappointment of my gaming life (campaign, multiplayer was good). I couldn't believe how much I was looking forward to this SINGLE level but microsoft was like lolnop and made bungie rush. Halo 2 was trash compared to what it could have been (covenant can speak human wat) fffffffffff I would trade the entirety of halo 2's campaign for this one single demo level.

Just wondering how many other halo fans agree with me.

Mmmmeeehhh. I played a lot of the first one over LANs with friends and it was a lot of fun, but they took out the best multiplayer mode in the second one. Kill in Order gave you a specific target you had to kill, it changed everytime you killed them (and got a point). The targets were random, so out of 12 people playing 3 might have the same target and at times you had to choose between going after the target, killing the other people trying to kill your target, or killing the people for whom you were the target. It was chaotic and I loved it.

Halo 2 was the only campaign I played through. I didn't see anything wrong with it.

Yeah I don't recall being mad about anything to do with Halo 2. In fact, I think Halo 2 had a lot of solid improvements over Halo. Halo 3 had solid improvements over 2. Now with Halo Reach and all this business...I'm just mad because it seems like there's less to improve. Also, creating a class system like CoD was retarded.

I liked Halo because it was different than CoD.

As a standalone campaign is was alright. But it was supposed to be a super epic continuation of an amazing story from the first one + books. Try the first and you'll see what I mean - it's like all the epicness was sucked out leaving just a bare skeleton.

What I expected:
- alien religious fanatics, far superior to your kind in technology and numbers, discover the location of your home planet and proceed to blow it to hell (see super huge explosions in the vid)
- earth based missions where you strive to protect what's left of humanity's resistance.
- huge space battles since this is the best defended planet after Reach, which has since been obliterated.
- ONI hatching a convulted scheme to somehow turn the tide of the war at the last minute (capturing a prophet perhaps, as was the Spartans' original mission right before reach was eaten).
- new enemies (brutes) which attack with the elites in some unholy scariness, but still bicker with one another over who is superior.
- one or two covenant perspective missions, fighting the humans so as to glean some insight as to why they hate us so much and have proceeded to eliminate our worlds one by one for the last 27 years.

What I got:

- aliens that spoke fluent english, erasing any mystery as to why they hate us (subtitles would have sufficed for story elements)
- one mission in space, no huge invading army (they didn't think our HOME world would be defended as it was, so they sent a fleet 50x smaller than the reach force)
- brutes and elites never attacked with one another, and they threw in some bug enemies and reused the "twist" enemies from the first one (Flood)
- ONE mission on earth before being sent off to ANOTHER halo (wat)
- alien perspective missions were just killing other aliens, not humans. Humans turn out to be a secondary concern, contradicting the zealotry.

I could go on. I have given this a lot of thought, as you can see lol. I just don't like the direction the story went. It had such a solid basis and they blew it. Keep in mind though that most of my complaints are story based. I loved the new weapons, vehicles, marine AI (still kinda derp) etc but the story was what I played halo for.

I liked the story in HALO. I also appreciated that Master Chief was a superhero.

I guess I always feel for FPS games - single player doesn't need to have super amazing ZOMG lore. Halo's really about the multiplayer imo.

Never played the single player but the multiplayer was a lot of fun.

Ima leave this here. This was the first halo tournament ever for halo 1 and I've always thought this was just a great video.

No console FPS is ever about the multiplayer. Halo was cool because the story was compelling. It didn't touch the soles of a game like Tribes in multiplayer.

Clear lack of overpowered sniper scope pistol use.

I don't think so, Tim.
