so, a good friend/teacher of mine got admitted to hospice last week, and I'm planning a visit either today or tomorrow. I've never done something like this, is it customary to bring something; flowers/etc? I'm really unsure of how to approach this visit. :/

I haven't ever visited anyone in hospice care. I'd assume bringing flowers, or a little something would be a good move. If you could make something small...like a few cupcakes or something..that might be nice too. Sucks though, hospices must be sad sad places.

Bring yourself. What people need most at that time is someone to hold their hand, talk with them, and help them come to peace. A flower or plant would be nice. A good idea could be a small plant that once the time comes can be put in the earth as a living tribute to them.

was interesting... depressing at first, but everyone started telling stories and laughing which lightened the mood. it's a bit scary, tbh, to see someone so frail...

Do an Elliot Reid.

Flash your cans.
Cure all disease.

Better be careful - you might get the HIVs.

What is your friend put up for?

I've been to so many funerals I lost count. I'm glad youve never been to one before. I imagine you'll go to at least ONE more though!
