I voted NDP don't look at me.

sidenote: I love how our system gives majority seats to the party who in reality only have 39.6% of the country's support [by votes].

I'm sorry no one else cared enough to inform any Americans about this.

What happened? Is Sidney Crosby president yet?

The Conservative party in Canada had a pretty good run this past election cycle and the lolliberal (to include New Democratic Party) parties are butt hurt.

So, people are just mad that the NDP won Quebec or something?

Gah, if their conservative party is anything like ours, I am disappoint as well. When did it start becoming cool electing backwards people to office anyway?

I'm just confused that a party in contempt of parliament twice is now in majority.

Probably the most interesting election we've seen since 1993. I'm disappointed the Cons won, but I'm hoping that the major shakeup on the left and a Harper majority will inspire some sort of merger or formal Liberal-NDP alliance. Given how far the Bloc fell, I think a federalist coalition would be viable and could probably get to majority territory by eliminating vote splitting.

Yeah man. Those wily Harpers, always causing trouble - almost as much as those damn Whigs. Oh well, at least they aren't Tories. It's all 6's and 7's anyway, a bunch of politicians who are bent as a nine bob note. I won't be surprised if Canada ends up gone for a burton because of the awful state of vote splitting. Truly though, the act of voting is like giving a donkey strawberries.

It's generally quite boring. Parties usually govern from the center and election platforms differ more on vision than actual policy. This election had some pretty significant changes in popular vote and seat count for the two national "leftist" parties and the separatist party in Quebec, so it could turn into something pretty interesting.

We don't have Whigs, just Grits and Tories.

Looks like several of the NDP's new MPs from Quebec are current university students ...
