good read. *snicker*

If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

This retard blew his entire life savings on advertisements about this horseshit.

Who wants to bet he offs himself when it doesn't happen?

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

This is why no one take Christianity seriously. I'm pretty sure there's at least one passage about how no one will know when the rapture and following events will take place before they happen, that there will be no warning. These idiots can't even read their own handbook right.

I'm in a facebook event group for "Post Rapture Looting"

Basically, if the rapture happens I am throwing a brick through the first storefront window I see that sells electronics.

In all seriousness though. lol @ the rapture. Here's the thing...even if God actually exists, and even if Jesus were his son, and all that shit in the Bible were true...some asshole with a calculator could never determine the exact time when God would go "fuck this shit" and have a rapture.

Also, people who take the Book of Revelations as a prediction of the end of days are fucking stupid. The book was a compilation of works that were written for Christians living under persecution by the Roman Empire. Basically all the bad shit (beasts, symbols etc.) were all allegories for Roman leaders/government. The antichrist was the Roman emperor. They disguised it using imagery so that it wouldn't get confiscated/lead to more persecution...the only thing it predicts is the fall of the Roman Empire.

Essentially it was a book designed to be a message to Christians "I know life sucks right now, and these Romans are assholes...but just you wait, they will get their comeuppance"

Evangelical Christians piss me off.

It's been awhile, but if I recall correctly, the breaking of the seven seals happens before people are marked with passage to heaven, but then everyone has to endure the woes and disasters brought about by the angels before going to heaven. I guess when the world goes to shit (with natural disasters) and we see angels and dragons fighting in the sky then that's the indication for Rapture.

With all the stuff in Revelations, I have a hard time seeing the parallel between it and Rome.

I will admit, I'm extremely excited for the 22nd. Can't wait to see what these people do when they realize that um.....

either A) rapture didn't happen, or b) they believe it happened and they weren't raptured.

Working as intended. Pretty much any Biblical scholar who is worth anything...and isn't a maniac fundamentalist, agrees that the book of Revelations was written for Christians under oppression by the Roman Empire.

Pretty much this. They will say "oh, I made an adding mistake when I came up with that date...actually it's going to be 3 years later and in March instead of May" and blah blah, it will continue on. You can't reason with crazy.

In a different thread I linked an article on Seventh Day Adventists. They started after two end-times date predictions were wrong.

Comparing these folks and thinking of them in light to the majority of the modern Christians going a bit to the extreme.

This is why I looove history, in the year 1000 there were a small minority of Christians who believed the world was going to end (for whatever reason escapes my memory atm) and awaited the moment from their rooftops.

This very simple example should remind them of the bible's teachings that NO ONE KNOWS WHEN JESUS IS COMING BACK aka their official BEGINNING OF THE END. Ok maybe the heavenly Father knows according to the teaching.. which still excludes EVERYONE ELSE.

OK done with brief anecdotal history christian 101 theology lesson.

And sometimes, there's an analogy in that.
