With the latest patch I've observed a lot of negativity towards Blizzard around these boards. An overwhelming majority of it is certainly deserved. However, I started thinking that perhaps we are being too pessimistic here. Sometimes it's nice to think of the glass as half-full. To that end, what has Blizzard done right when it comes to WoW expansions and new content?

For me, I would have to say it is solo questing. Each expansion Blizzard has made improvements in streamlining the questing experience, adding new and different quests, and sometimes even bringing unique quest mechanics into the fold. Questing through Cataclysm zones was actually pretty fun imo.

Solo questing is a stupid and bad idea; solo questing is contrary to what an MMO is all about which is playing with other players. The overwhelming majority of all quests have always been soloable and the idea that ALL quests should be soloable is driven by trying to make the MMO genre appeal to people who shouldn't be playing MMOs in the first place.

It's part of one of the worst choices that Blizzard made in this game which is trying to insulate players from each other so that people who would normally be too stupid, stubborn, immature, socially impaired or just plain rude won't be ostracized and cancel account. So instead, everyone who isn't any or all of those things cancels account. Brilliant.

What have they done well? I'd say the new pet/mount UI is a good idea. I like the general diversity of things like bags, pets, mounts, titles, novelties.

The only thing that has changed that still bothers, longer than anything else, is the whole hard modes concept.

I love learning bosses, I love when you get those first tough kills in, but for god's sake don't waste my life by time sinking it on the same bosses AGAIN, let alone some of them with achievements akin to NOW TRAI KILING THIS BOSS WITHOUT WEARING ANY pANTS. I can only farm the same bosses for so long and although Hard Modes may be a good fix for the folks who seriously just can't stop playing WoW for even a week- it still milks the content is a terrible double-dip fashion that invokes boredom and potential sickness along with a side of wastedlifeness.

Every game has things that could be done better, but that one really gets my brew bubblin

I'm not a fan of the campaign.

It's too short.

You've beaten it too soon Executus.

Multiplayer balance is pretty well done. And Blizzard has done a good job of allowing/supporting tournaments.

Edit: I'll tell you what they did wrong, these new roar emote sounds. Both female races from BC yell something as opposed to roaring. What is up with that?

I hope this is sarcasm, because this has never, ever been the case...then again, don't you play a mage? No, that's not right, it's still some caster or other. Nevermind, doesn't matter what you play, bad joke is funny.
