Very interesting.

I can see how this book might corroborate your opinions as to the cause of the crisis. But what the book seems to be saying is not that banks made loans they did not want to make, it is that banks took risks they would not have wanted to take without the "no-fail" guarantee that government subsidy provided.

The difference is between being pushed off the gangplank and ignoring the "No Swim" sign because you're sure the park ranger will rescue you.
