it was direct response to the google translate beat box thread, the immediate reply to which was "there's a place for things like this, it will be locked", and later it was locked.

my point is clear. the rules, as interpreted by the mods, is clearly that fun things are not allowed on these forums except within the predefined thread. it's like when they give you a 3x3 "free speech zone" on a college campus.

and it screams to everyone visiting here that having fun is a moderated activity and you will be penalized for doing it inappropriately. which is about the dumbest fucking thing in the universe.

In all honesty, I would've unlocked the thread if it wasn't just a link with (iirc) 2 words.

If it was "hey, I made (link of something created on that site), let's see what you can do", I don't think it would've been locked.

However, just pasting a link and making it a thread is dumb.
