Yes. It's a thread where funny videos should be posted. If you post a video a moderator deems 'funny' in its own thread, the thread get's locked. The benefit is you get all the stupid shit in one thread. The downside is you get all the stupid shit in one 60+ page thread so you can't really have fun discussion on videos or whatever.

So...

Edit: Can a mod set a 10 day poll period? I forgot to do that before someone cast their ballot. Eh, if not, consider this over on Dec 10, 2010 at 11PM EST.

That isn't what happens at all.

Threads that get locked are (hey, I found xxx funny, so let me post it). Threads that have a new subject and incorporate a funny video (ex. If I made a thread about Four Loko, typed out a couple sentences, and then had the CollegeHumor Four Loko ad) are always kept open.

This is an example of a thread that would be locked:
http://bucketguild.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=9134
This is a thread that both adds something to the board and also uses videos that could go into one sticky and has thus remained unlocked:
http://bucketguild.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=9062

EDIT: I'd vote for allowing funny videos to have their own thread IF AND ONLY IF THEY'RE GIVEN A SUBFORUM FOR FUNNY VIDEOS ONLY.

Look at how many posts are made per day in the sticky, then make each and every one of those new threads. FUBU moves by fast enough (I think an unbumped thread has something like a 4-8 hour life on the first page).

OMFG SPAM ON A PUBLIC FORUM?!?!?

You mean you don't click on every thread that has something new posted in it?

I highly doubt you don't...

Sometimes it's easier for people to track a thread they may want to... then a thread cluttered full of random stupid shit that will change subjects every time someone finds something new. Go figure.

I click the 'mark all topics read' button link thing regularly.

It's amazing.

Then why complain about spam if you auto ignore it "regularly"?

That's pretty self explanatory. Gonna assume you're trying to troll.

Spam isn't a good thing. It's called "spam" for a reason.

EDIT: Spacehunter, check your messages.

I'm completely down for some sort of compromise. There's a vote on it right now in some other thread here on Meta.

If it's some quick entertainment that's just meant to be looked at then move on when you're done, post it in a huge thread.

If stuff is posted that is intended to start a conversation, post it in a separate thread.
