Post subject: | Suggestion: Moving/Rehosting the Forum |
There have been quite a lot of requests by people for changes that Mayo simply cannot implement. My suggestion is to have the forum either re-hosted or moved as to allow for the Moderators and Administrators to have better control over the functionality of the board. With many of the members of this community--myself included--already hosting their own servers within the confines of their own homes, we already have several options at-the-ready in the event that this is something that people want to pursue. Assuming the i has a bucket Webmaster has the ability to make a mysql dump, with a little pruning of the unnecessary bulk, we could start without losing any data. Also, starting fresh could also allow for any new subforums requested/decided upon to be implemented with the fresh launch. |

FUBU not being a morbid parasite feasting off Bucket's ravaged rectum would be nice. |

also, im not sure what plan theyre using but this would also give you more resources than: http://www.kewlshells.com/webhosting.php (you're at their max plan just to get the storage space that i currently have) |

For the record: FUBU's free. If other people want to pony up the money to run things or already have a site that's open, I'd be more than willing to move it. |

I could throw large amounts of pennies at a $7 a year deal. |

If you are looking for cheap hosting http://nosupportlinuxhosting.com/ is a pretty slick spot, 1$ a month gets you 1gb of disk storage, 3 mysql databases and 10gb of monthly transfer, haven't seen any place as cheap for what you get, just gotta be comfortable with linux or at least using cPanel. Out of curiosity how much bandwidth does the forums consume exactly? |

I could spare a few bucks to help maintain FUBU. It might be nice if we had our own domain, own host, etc. |

Cameo! And the site is hosted on my server in a datacenter in NYC. I don't charge myself anything to host it ;) What did you need to change? |

Nick <3 I think one of the major things was that people wanted the phbb upgraded. An ignore or a hide thread feature would be nifty if you can do it, but I don't think anyone's gonna lose any sleep over it if you don't. |
