Post subject:  Regarding Personal Conduct towards others

Please take what I have to say for what it is: a reminder of the basics of interpersonal relationships and an attempt to keep the community thriving as a hub of players who enjoy casual conversation about a variety of topics.

A few things:

I have witnessed firsthand many members of the forums, including mods and admins singling people out for ridicule and insulting treatment. This will not be tolerated as long as I am a moderator. We are all human beings sitting behind a monitor. We are all someone's kid, boyfriend or girlfriend or just someone's friend. People care about us. We care about other people. We all have emotions, and we are all worth something.

Do not tarnish someones sense of worth. Do not think that it is not harmful because it comes electronically through a series of interconnected networks. Do not think that because you cannot see the harm you do, that it is okay.

First and second violations will be given a warning pm. Continued violations will result in my recommendation for a mute or ban depending on severity.

As Mayo likes to remind us, this is not 4chan. We are not heartless retards going on a puberty power trip.

We are adults, and as such we will conduct ourselves with a degree of respect for others.

Any problems? Leave constructive feedback in this thread.

Really, Mayo was the absolute worst person to quote when making your case and using him to try to bring more civility to the forum was a pretty good laugh. Yes, we're all adults... but adults don't always agree. Fact is, in the real world, Adults start wars over disagreements and, subsequently, people die over disagreements. People aren't dying here. Anyways, if someone wants to get all 4chan-y then they should be able to... we never jump on the other Moderators asses when they turn threads into something that would be better hosted at Realbeer.com or Foodbanter.com, do we?

While it's a nice message on your part, React, drama's pretty much the most entertaining text-based thing people can find on the internet. The truth is, we're really not classy people and my approach to moderation (basically zero beyond tagging things NSFW) reflects my view that for the most part, anything goes.

We're almost all adults, yes. But I don't actually respect most of the posters.

This post is 7 months too late. You won't stop this.

Because I see a difference between common courtesy and respect. It's no slight to say I don't respect someone.

I don't need your respect. All I need is your fear.

Is this thread late? Yes. Is it needed? Yes. I'm tired of seeing people hold silly stupid internet grudges with people they have never met face to face.

I'm particularly tired of seeing promising posters, or anyone interested in participating in this community being driven away by the piss-poor atmosphere some of you perpetuate.

Aestu called me utterly pathetic, and I cried.

I see your point though...this can't degenerate into a board of people just hurling personal insults at one another. I think the latest "drama" was both an all-time low and an all-time high depending on how you look at it. Entertainment was off the charts, but yes...mutual respect and all that good community stuff was pretty much non-existent.

I think we just need to get back to normalcy if possible. Generally, everyone is respectful, but as often happens...every now and then someone will make fun of you...which is actually okay (IE: I don't care when people make fun of my bus situation). We will never be a forum where everyone's holding hands and singing songs around a campfire...but that doesn't mean we can't just act like it's thanksgiving. You may not like everyone at the table, and may make a snide comment every now and then...but you'll sit with them and pass the butter if they ask.

Also, Tuhl, I hope you respect me...because I respect you! <3

My point was more along the lines of 'drama is okay, but keep it reasonable'

Teasing about a breakup of a guild is reasonable. Teasing about server firsts is reasonable. Mocking someones DPS or tanking abilities is reasonable. Beating someone in a duel or arena match and then making a 15 page shitfest thread about who has the bigger e-peen is fine.

Calling people fat ugly whores is crossing a line. Six posters making the same jabs and comments about one user is excessive. Exercise a degree of classiness.

This is a fucking game for Christs sake. A game. That is what this board stems from. Games are about recreation, some of you idiots take this WAY too fucking far.

The Sack has spoken. Let's get back to our roots as Azelma suggested.

I don't think "fat ugly e-whore" got tossed into the mix any sooner than, and I'm going to paraphrase here, "limp-dick corn-oil aficionado," or as it has also been stated, "The Man from San Francrisco." I don't care who started it, but it's only fair that when you get with the broadsides that you have your opportunity to let loose with your own artillery. It was quite a bit of dirty laundry the rest of us didn't need to hear, despite how much we may (not) have enjoyed it.

Personally, I happen to like that we're still very 'anything goes' and we should keep it that way. If people want to hate on each other, so be it.

Your Pal,
Jubber

I assure you, the whole reaction to this was firmly rooted as Azelma suggests.

1) Stay classy

2) Stay classy even if others don't

Also, Tehra won the thread.
