Fantastique wrote: Also, why do we have the absolute best weddings of all the world's cultures/religions? Because they are more important to you people, and seen as a sign of social status and personal success in a way that they are not to other cultures. It's a direct outgrowth of the caste system, even after that system is no longer a factor. Just as Jews are still a people who value learning even if they don't care about the Talmud anymore. At least that's my interpretation, as a pedantic American know-it-all. |

Indian weddings are too long and involved for my tastes. It's like the longest party on earth with a million costume changes. (At least the one I went to was) @Fanta - When the Paki/Indian marry, what would the ceremony/reception be like with two enemy nations coming together in the same room? |

Well, the ones I have been to were relatively civil, though you couldn't help but notice that the grandparents were all sitting separately. My gf is actually Indian, and my mom has no problem with it since she was educated in England. But if my grandparents were still around, they'd probably not be happy. But the ceremonies are so damn similar you can't tell the difference. Just another reason illustrating that Pakistan and India should never have separated. DAMN BRITS |

I went to an Indian party once. It was crazy and I ended up staying until like 4. Good times. Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk |
