Bus riders captured an argument between a Cleveland bus driver and an an unruly passenger recently that turned into an all out brawl, with the male driver landing a brutal uppercut on the female passenger, then proceeding to beat her.
It’s unclear what started the altercation, but the video begins with verbal sparring between the two with rampant profanity. Eventually, the woman slaps the man, and he points out that she’s about to go to jail (assaulting a bus driver is specifically outlawed on most buses). Unhappy with just telling her she’s about to be punished, the driver decides to dish out some of his own — he winds up and punches the woman. But as she falls and is left stunned, he proceeds to beat her, even appearing to slam her head into a pole.
“That’s a fu**ing female!” one passenger yells.
“I don’t care!” the driver responds. “She want to be a man, I’m gonna treat you like a man!”
he didn't proceed to beat her, he threw her off the bus.
Some people, unfortunately, only respond to physical violence, and she struck him first according to the article. Striking a bus driver while the bus is in motion(assumption on my part) endangers everyone in the bus and everyone on the road. I applaud that guy.
I don't know what the rules there are, but if I was struck, and didn't need to further defend myself or other kids, I'm to secure the bus and radio base. Then let state troopers/ school officials deal with it.
Now, I am 99% certain that because this is a city bus (and not a school bus like mine) he had every authority to boot her ass off the bus. What the rules are if she then became physical, I'm not sure but he probably had the authority to physically force her off if she was going to harm anybody else aboard. Or maybe evacuate the bus while the cops arrive.
Anyway, I could speculate on these things all day. But what I do know, from the video, it was wholly unprofessional and I don't see any legitimate reason for slugging her, even if her being a total dipshit and a bitch are glaringly obvious.
Also, that remark about her being a woman, it just occurred to me:
Women are tough enough to give birth but aren't tough enough to take the same hits that would be given if they were a guy?

I'm also with Usd. It looks like he hit her, then threw her (and her shit) off the bus. However, when the camera is spinning around for whatever stupid reason, I assume she came back for more and that could be when he proceeded to "beat her".

It's more about their ability to hit back than their ability to endure pain. Just because a woman can spring back up after getting decked doesn't mean she's capable of holding her own in fisticuffs.
The solution is simple: Don't hit people, don't cry when you get hit. I have to follow those same rules when I'm dealing with any male figure beyond the scope of my ability.
