Apparently, your gaffes are only funny/a sign of retardation if you're a republican. In fact, Politico columnist Roger Simon says that instead of being a dumb-ass boob for texting pictures of his wang to college girls, Anthony Weiner does it because he's a fucking rocket-doctor: " It's the very intelligence of these men like Spitzer, like Weiner -- how bright they are, how quick they are, uh, how successful they are -- that gives them a sense of invulnerability, that nothing bad could really happen to them because nothing bad ever has." If you guys applied the same standards to democrats that you applied to republicans, they'd last about as long as republicans that make those sorts of idiotic mistakes (which isn't long, because even if the party doesn't push them out, they never get elected again). Then again, I don't think it's so much that any of you are applying any standards as that you're just playing your part in the echo chamber and repeating what you're being told is groovy about the "cool kids" while making fun of the chess team like you're still in Jr. High. No, it's clear that the media went after palin a lot harder than they went after biden. EDIT I should probably mention that in no way did i think that palin was a good candidate, or even electable. I just know that the republicans had to do SOMETHING coming off the bush era to get some votes, so they went for a female candidate who's good at running her mouth. she's just not good at keeping her foot out of their. She was a hail mary at best and it bit them in the ass. Personally, i would've voted for EITHER bill or hillary clinton over obama or mccain, so shove that down your "OMGTHEYREALLMINDLESSPUBLICAN" throats. |

It all comes down to money, just like everything else. given that the media is exhausting their budget for this year by covering all the shit that happened in just the first half of it, you may want to rethink where most of that money comes from. yes, there is concern about the FCC, but their business model operates more in a "here and now" environment than "prepare". the state of media is changing, and not one government handjob on the DL will keep them afloat to cater to people who don't want to watch. corporations pay for advertising, which requires viewers. viewers want to watch entertainment because their attention span has been cut down tremendously. are you not entertained? |

The fact that Palin is inconsequential and unqualified (which is an odd complaint given that having held an executive she is/was more qualified than the fuckwit we're currently stuck with that everyone seems to enjoy sucking off) and this is still 'major news' kind of proves the point. We could be discussing Romney, Pawlenty, or Cain right now, but now that we're done being distracted by Dr. Comb-over and the Case of the Missing Birth Certificate, we're being treated to Sarah Palin's Short Bus World Tour, because it's easier to make fun of these mistake-prone republitards than it is to have a serious discussion about real candidates who have an excellent chance of unseating The Chosen One. Historically speaking, there's more of a chance Miley Cyrus will win a Grammy than Obama will win the Presidency again if the unemployment rate stays where it is, and with that in mind, his supporters in the media would rather focus on "LOLURDUMB" than serious scrutiny of his potential replacements.
