Has your chemistry gone the ways of a quantum mess yet?

Would you describe coal mining as a joke of a job? What qualifies a task as "a joke" to you?

Being a soup chef isn't necessarily a joke, but it becomes one when taken out of any proportion.

Having a PhD isn't necessarily a joke, but it becomes one when wearing it as a badge of intellectual superiority.

Oh and if you want to be a touchy, hostile little psychological projecting bitch, I can play the same game and say that they would be at least 3-6 orders of magnitude above wearing one's actually un-shown intelligence as one's sole badge of intellectual superiority.

As you repeatedly do, and then project on others. (and you can look around all you want, I never did what your claim implies)

If you actually read the thread, you see zero ego stroking (unless you see 14 pages of math for one problem as ego stroking, I don't, that's a perception stemming from private prejudice (and read the f'ing title of this thing for fuck's sake)) until it's mentioned, then you hijack it with your self-important BS and turn it into shit, as repeatedly done in previous discussions.

And as far as the circle jerking goes, there is none here. Some people agree on some things, some people disagree on some, and they do so openly. They aren't the same people and it's uncorrelated. Except one little unique snowflake with a superior shape - who gets backed up when he happens to be right no less! Because you see, people here, for the most part, discuss the discussion without bias as to who commented on it, and only one picks out a sentence or a word to argue semantics. Or attacks people who say something that happens to be wrong. Or, etc, etc.

The bottom end of the Dunning-Kruger effect, what a bitch, uh? You aren't the first, but don't worry, you won't be the last. I'd also wager that you're due for a visit to the good head doc to get the douchenozzle out of that noggin' of yours.

Q.E.D. and this shit is getting old, so fuck off, will ya? :)

Yeah, I have an uncle who used to be a chef and he tells me that the environment is very hectic. Almost on the scale of cardio workout all day he says.

But with a Masters, he could call himself...

Master?

It would be Jushiro, M.Sc (on formal letters, can also be written as M.S.), read as Jushiro, Master of Science.

Which is pretty cool.

The only quantum mess I've experienced is trying to draw hybrid orbitals.

Nice, should get real fun soon. I don't know how deep chemistry goes (physics-wise) but you might even get a rundown in special relativity since the math uses the same spacetime coordinate systems. And my friend, STR is where things begin to get weird.

I don't think we're getting into anything more than electron configurations and hybrid orbitals - it is first year afterall.

We're doing a lot of enthalpy stuff which is very boring.

First year of BSc or MSc?

Yeah some stuff is boring and you'll use it in more advanced stuff (at which point it's much less boring, in part because you're able to do it in your head).

If I have one tip to give it's this: spend some of your free time studying ahead of the stuff you're currently studying. For example grab a book on quantum chemistry, read through it and you might not understand a god damn thing but you'll recall things you read when you get to it. Also you'll have the book for references (it's impossible (and useless) to memorize everything)

Another tip would be to practice, practice, practice. After that, practice some more. On your free time or at any time, whatever. Keep your mind sharp with that stuff and remember, if you spend even a month not doing hard enough calculations and whatnot then you might just lose some ability. Suppose that your brain is a muscle, well for it to get stronger you have to flex it with weights, the bigger the weights, the bigger the flexing. After X amount of time without flexing, the brain gets weaker! No one is born with an innate ability to do science, one has to learn, and that takes patience, hard work and practice. There's no getting around that no matter how smart one thinks he is. "Science made easy" doesn't exist.

In other words, you never stop learning in science and once you're done with your studies, well you learn more from publications, and you still need to practice to keep sharp.

Oh and "expert" is another word for "ignorant" in most cases.

Neither of those. Currently I am doing a "Chemical engineering technology lab and process control" program at a college in Sudbury.

When I am finished this will give me an Ontario College Advanced degree, I then want to go to University.

I should be able to use my 3 year college program as credit for ~2 years of a BSc, but the transfer agreements my college has are crap so we'll see about that.
