Does the term "sheeple" just turn anyone else off from whatever someone's saying? I tend to do the same thing with "Ron Paul" and "liberal", but "sheeple" is the biggest offender for me.

people who use sheeple generally are sheeple. i hate that term too.

Everyone's heard the word sheeple before. it's something college kids use to try and make themselves sound better than everyone else because they "go their own way" or "are their own person."

At least you have the decency to come right out and say it, whether or not its true.

Sheep + People

It refers to sheep being herded, and implies someone is like a sheep, and willing to do/think what they are told to do/think.

Sheeple is probably the douchiest word not even in the English language.

I can't remember the fellow, I want to say Thom Hartman, but I don't think it's him. Anyway I kept hearing the term "As a progressive..." which made me just change the channel.

Hearing "Ron Paul" at any level above inside voice annoys me too. The same would probably apply to any other politician, but I never hear people wailing RICK PERRY or OBAMA. Well, I do hear OBAMA, but it's a reference to a South Park episode, and I join in on it.

Both words have basis in fact if not in the English language and represent profound issues in current society.

Which is why they ruffle so many feathers.

It only ruffles my feathers when some punk college kid uses it on me because I don't give a shit to "legalize it."

When it's pressing matters that have to do with say, the budget(and all that entails, health care national defense etc) fine, because that's something people SHOULD be paying attention to.

Not giving a shit about what celebrity hair style is "in" this week or some other random unimportant bullshit does not make me a sheeple.

If you say so. From what I see, the issues that are in fact important are also the ones you (and Weena and most other posters here) have most of a herd mentality about. Whenever discussion strays beyond those bounds you immediately go into "BRAIN HURTZ" mode.
