If the level cap increases and/or they introduce more tiers of items, I'm going to rage more than any of the other changes. That would really defeat a lot of time spent farming for perfect but rare items early on, and sort of undermine their RMAH (not that I'm going to touch it).

RMAH will hyper-incentivize china farming and create an entire class of losers and chinas pouring massive time into the game for extremely marginal cash rewards. Flooding the market with items to turn into cash will totally wipe out the capacity of players who aren't losers or chinas to sell anything on the AH. It will very much be RMAH or go home.

In order to stabilize the game, Blizzard will have to constantly inflate item levels, cash drops and player power, just like in WoW. This will favor the chinas in the long term as they will develop means to position themselves to smoothly retain control of the economy as each new content block comes out.

why?

I guess for me at this point it's just another game. The Beta didn't really excite me at all and i didn't play D2 a lot so i'm not really coming into D3 with this massive level of expectation or anything. I could very well end up playing the shit out of it, i dunno.

I think our main run still needs like 5-6 madness mounts and some people have real experience with you and don't seem to like you : [. I get along with anyone though since I'm not a douche bag and I treat people how they treat me /shrug(I somehow managed to get along with Ebee for like a whole year !)

Anyway after we finish farming ours they might be willing to sell them(or maybe sell them out of the alt raid since the alt raid only has 2 more mains in it, the rest being alts of the main raid who would probably rather have gold then an extra mount)

I'll just wait till someone makes a bot and then use it to farm most likely. Not much into grindy games anymore.

the thing i was referring to with item level, which ironically i can't find again, was something along the lines of it affecting your damage to max level mobs.

i don't remember the exact numbers, but iirc the hardest mode, all mobs default to level 60 in act 1, they move up 1-2-3 levels until they're at 63, aka raid boss. if you're using a level 60 item? you do reduced damage to those enemies above you. nothing goes around it, at all. so unless you pick up a higher level weapon, you're gimped as a form of "difficulty".

all of that aside though, after playing titan quest and such in the years leading up to D3's launch, playing the D3 beta didn't feel like the same type of game at all.

Played the shit out of D2, enjoyed the D3 beta, nightmare/hell/inferno will give the difficulty increase needed (just like in D2, normal was super easy), will enjoy D3.

So is it just one west and east server? Or are there multiple ones like wow?

USEast and USWest, like D2 and WC3. Don't need WoW-style servers for a game that isn't an MMO.

I don't quite get it. What's the point of this? Make people buy weapons off the RMAH?

Given that they're going with the WoW model (heroic/hard raids are trivial), and the game is for all intents and purposes discrete from the Diablo series, what makes you think this is going to be so?

They're not going with the WoW model, they're going with the D2 model. There were difficulties there too, which unlocked when you beat the game on the previous one. Base-level mobs in Hell difficulty in D2 could one-shot you, and supposedly the same is true in D3.

It's not like setting the instance to heroic. You're setting the entire playthrough to one difficulty higher, and it's not supposed to be fair or beatable.

There were "heroic fivemans" in TBC too.

It's still a question of a wholly arbitrary definition of difficulty. The Blue posts strongly suggest that they want Normal to be totally braindead and above that just marginal. Who says it's supposed to be extreme?

Why would they be any more faithful to the notion of hard hards than they are in WoW?
