Yeah that's a weird one. I DE all the two handers i get without even thinking twice but odds are there's some thing there in the math the game isn't telling us. I much prefer information overload where i can actually pull out a calculator and get the correct answer. I feel like this game is denying me that basic uhh... right isn't the right word. I dunno.

Really enjoying Monk at the moment. Barbie is next on the list.

Having not played the game, the logical assumption is that the mechanics parallel those in WoW (and most such games): OH has higher chance to miss/does not contribute to weap damage calculations by specials. So:

1. Why not just use duels and careful reading of SCT on each action?
2. Are L/R swing timers separate such that both hands attack independently without staggering/CD?

No. You get an attack speed bonus of 15% when using two weapons, I dont know what the benefit if any of using a 2h.

sell great on AH though.

Thought Normal mode gear would suck ass in Nightmare, apparently not.

Disappointing so far in terms of difficulty.

Boss fights are just a "wow!" factor.

Are you playing by yourself ? So far it seems like the more people you have the harder it is, and we are finding lack of drops to be a large issue. We did Nightmare with 4 people, a Barb, Monk(me), Mage and Dhunter and trying to go through with just drops me and the barb were getting one shot by Rares and some "caster" mobs. We had a good amount of trouble with Rares that had Firetrails or Chains and we ended up going to the AH and loading up on cheep Vit/ life steal/gen gear and I still had to be VERY careful to not get raped off the pull since my gear wasn't great(not much I could use on the AH) and Monk aoe is crazy(read agro). I was using all my dodge talents and rotating through them we varied success.

All and all it wasn't so bad because if we died one of the ranged would kite the mobs/boss and the other would rez us.

Then we get to Hell > < (and 3 manning minus the Dhunter) and it got worse. Every rare we were pretty much breaking all our gear(seemed like every set of rares we ran into had firechains and suction ports/blink><). Me and the Barb went 100% defense, I set myself up with my crippling MH(targets do less dmg and attack slower)shorty raid bubble my healing aura(+spirit gen) my ranged kick and my spirit guard(+spirit gen)and my Super resistance talent(its a super healing / kiting spec) and he went but tons of armor and regen talents+fire/poison res and vit life steal gear(tank spec) and we had to use terrain to our advantage to kill them. Fchain mobs we would clear around them and then we would split them up(chain has a range) I would kite/kill one the Barb would solo one and the Mage would kite the others till we could kill them for him. Another one is the illusions one, you can kinda gib with terrain by fighting them in a doorway(if you are lucky enough to fight them in a building vs a cave/outdoors) and then you aren't being hit by 25 mobs at the same time.

We still had a lot of deaths going on but they were killable if we were 100%D + kiting, we did about half the first act.

Our mage went to bed and it became even easier(less mobs, maybe 1 less ability each as well?) and we cleared out the butcher and called it a night(rares were still pretty tough).

So yea stacking D CD's / HP and res gear and we are not even in Inferno yet > <
______________________________________________________________________________

Thing to remember is that the rares are supposed to be harder then the boss's and they have been as of yet. The boss's just take a while kill due to large HP pools but pretty basic strats / tank and spank(melee trading agro going in and out) seems to work fine in all 3 difficulty's. BUT the Rares(read optional content) have a lot of AOE/Magic dmg which fucks people up(we had the most trouble with mobs that had Fchain/Poison/Lifesteal/Suction vortex >< horrible comp to fight as melee).

Our biggest problem has been drops. We have got like nothing good since normal mode(couple rings/necks and I got some gloves) to drop, I have crafted like 50 items and so far we have got like 1 that any of us could use and the rest of our gear has been from the AH : [

if your barb is getting one shot he's doing something wrong.

there's a lot of + life from damage abilities in barb.

I never die solo, and can usually hold my own or escape if need be in 4 player MP.

in diablo2 each additional player increased difficulty and drop rate of all monsters.

Probably the same or similar.

How much health are you running with at that point? I've never been super lucky with drops but I always find something better than what I have eventually. I've been playing with 4 player groups almost exclusively though.

There's no miss chance in Diablo. It also doesn't seem like weapon damage calculations care whether you're dual-wielding or not.

I think 2h are related to Fury (rage) generation, but that's the extent of my knowledge on the matter.

They're not. Mighty weapons (barbarian-specific) give more Fury, but only with that passive skill and many of those are also 1h anyway.

mighty weapons make that weapon expertise not worth using.

and dear god i tear shit up with dual wielding. when i save up some gold i'll try out a comparable 2hander and test it out.

I died about three times on Belial. I re specced and took him down pretty easy after that. Later that night I went back to see if the fight would be any harder on multiplayer but with a barbarian + monk that were both two lvls behind me. The fight was a joke.

Still trying to find out good ways to make money other than doing campaign.
