It's two separate issues that either exist independently of each other or they don't.

Being in Ausland will cause 1k+ latency and ridiculous rubber-banding and d/cs but it will not contribute to CPU load and associated anomalies. An Australian is as qualified as anyone else to observe that the CPU load of the game is excessive due to bad programming, or that the pathing is shit.

Anyway, waiting on a detailed response from Yewluze, Alopex or Hoenheim...

The going concern is that GW2, like every single MMO ever made that isn't WoW, is unresponsive and shitty when it comes to user input. I like it when hitting a hotkey makes the ability happen. I don't like it when things queue up clumsily and have large hidden windups (not cast times, those are visible) and it feels like trudging through a swamp 100% of the time.

Convincing me isn't really important though, because I already know I'm not getting GW2.

Had a nice overly long post setup but then I had to go help my dad with his comp and lost it...So, the summery is->

1) Game vs Computer.
For one thing I don't see to many games hitting CPU walls it is usually the GPU that lets you down unless you have a real clunker. I didn't have any rendering issues or rubber banding or anything. My comp is not awful(3.2GHz AMD, GTX 560ti and a godawful 4gb of DDR2(TWO) ram) but you could make a similar yet way better comp for under $700(you could get the same CPU/GPU, a better MoBo{better speeds} and 16gb of DDR3 + a PSU for probably $650). In other words if your computer was having major issues then its a "you" thing not a GW2 thing from my point of view.

2) The actual game.
The good. Story quests are fun(at least the first time through) and a great mechanism for exploring the world(they start sending you out and about by like 15th lev). Skill challenges are a neat way to level up the, you guessed it SKILLS. Reg Quests, I never really felt myself waiting around for mobs to kill or fires to put out like I do in wow and there were tons of people running around doing them at the same time, fluid questing. Different play types, I only really played the thief but it seems like you could play it a bunch of different ways, which is a huge + for me since I am still going to be playing WoW/DotA and probably PS2(when it comes out) so I don't want to have to level 5 chars in order to not be stuck stabbing someone in the ass for 5 hours a night(oh yeaaa) or healing ppl all day long.
The bad. Was mostly scaling issues for me, like getting one shot by a super mob just because there are 100 people beating on him(I know I know dodge better :P) or running out of PVE stuff to do and being 5 levels to low to move on, I hate repeating content(and I'm afraid they will want you to combat it VIA there MicroTrans Store : [ ). Other stuff like how god awful the chat was is annoying but fixable(might have already done it for all I know). UI stuff, I am spoiled by how amazing WoW's UI customization is and being able to set it just how I want it, not being able to move things around or easily keep track of buffs/debuffs feels really bad but I can see myself getting used to how it is setup given enough time playing...Targeting was annoying, sometimes it was hard to tell who you were targeting or where the mob you were targeting was if there was a lot of stuff going on.

There was more but I can't think of it : [

I'll be playing a lot of the next beta weekend (July 20th-22nd) and write up my full thoughts thereafter. I'm partially motivated because I'm trying to decide if GW2 is a good choice for my gf's first real foray into online PC gaming. Although I enjoyed GW1 and I felt that the novelty of GW2 is enough for me to justify the purchase price, I'm not yet fully convinced that it will be worth investing larger amounts of time and energy, or if I would recommend the game to other people.

Yeah. The only time there is an actual link is when the programming of the game is so bad that poor pc performance triggers disconnects when your connection is flakey, but that's got nothing to do with mere latency from living further, that's about actual bad quality internet.

At the end of the day you can tell what is specifically a computer issue or a latency issue even if both are going on. If you can't then i'd suggest you would also be incapable of correctly identifying whether there is a cock is inside your vag, arse, or both.

I know for a fact that Zaryi is capable of making this distinction.

I hope you do know that the whole "CPU load" issue in the first beta did not occur in the second at all.

Losing faith.

Not in the game, but in my setup. If I had bought a MBP a year later, the laptop would've had adequate GPU but instead I'm stuck with the NVIDIA GeForce 320M that's apart of my 2010 version. Oh well, curse my expensive desire for a new OS with promised recording software.

Just learned that I can't run The Witcher 2 on my Windows partition. Extremely disappointing because I just threw $40 at reinstalling Windows 7.

I'm glad most of you will be testing it for me.

Thanks!

Combos explained!

less than a month! If you play GW1, make sure your names are reserved if you want them at launch.

Countdown to the 25th.....
