You aren't all on the same server?

No, Northern Shiverpeaks is full unfortunately.

However, you can join guilds cross server.

Friends list work automatically like Bnet too. So even if you aren't looking for a ginvite, you should add that.

Also, I don't think I'll ever drop the [FOXY] tag.

Aren't server swaps free right now? Let's decide while we can. First person to post a server with a valid reason as to why. Or just any server that doesn't include aestu.

It seems like you guys already went over the "change your PW's" thing, but everything I saw(and didn't look into it to deep) was pointing the blame at people using compromised PW's linked to there E_Mail and hacked from OTHER games. When I setup my GW2 account I used my "login" E_Mail address with a PW I have yet to ever use, so I didn't bother changing it.

I recently got:

Quote:
Somebody (hopefully you!) asked to reset the password on your Guild Wars account.
To change your password, click the link below.
....
If you did not request to reset your password, you can ignore this email and no changes will be made to your account.
Need help or have questions about your Guild Wars account? Visit our support site: http://support.guildwars2.com/.
Thanks!
--The ArenaNet Team

And...

Quote:
A login attempt from the following location is currently awaiting your authorization.

Address: 110.83.180.201
City: Beijing
Region: 22
Country: CN

Now... My computer does not have any keyloggers on it atm. So do I have to assume that some China broke my PW(probably not to hard to do these days)or that GW2's own login server was hacked and thats why they told everyone to change there PW's ?

So what you're saying is that system devs are too stupid to throttle log in attempts?

The whole password integrity mania thing is just a way of blaming consumers for server security breaches.

Never received this PW change email so I have no idea. But the consensus is that an account from a previous game or forum had been found and they saved everything. Now they are going down the list looking for open accounts. The login authentication works fine as long as they don't have your email password. It's the same as Steam Guard.

Most people use passwords that are very week and can be cracked fairly easily. Also, there have been many data breaches in the past (like Sony, and others) which exposed millions of e-mail and password combinations. Since gamers play games (shocking, I know), it makes sense to iterate through one of those lists and check known e-mail/password combinations.

DoubleH - Is your e-mail used for GuildWars 2 the same as your battle.net account?

That doesn't address what I said.

Used to be on my WoW account prior to Battle.Net becoming active. I am not in the habit of making a new separate E_Mail address for every game/website I have to log into.

To be perfectly honest I think its kinda ridiculous that you have to have a secure E_Mail address in order for your WoW/Steam/GW2/whatever to be secure. If they can't make a secure website and/or insure the fuck out of peoples credit cards then maybe they should just require every monetary transaction to take place over the phone, not keep any online visible records and give everyone a keyfob for buying their game or using their service.

Otherwise why stop at two usernames and PW's. Why not have an E_Mail address to keep your E_Mail address safe so that you can keep your game login safe? I mean for fucks sake, if the problem is ever on the consumer end no amount of passwords, codes or E_Mail addresses will save them.

Or am I just the asshole that thinks I shouldn't have to make a new E-Mail address and link it to my: Blizzard, ArenaNet, Steam, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Newegg, Sony, Microsoft, Netflix, Hulu, Funimation, eleventyone different forums and a million other E_Mail related logins every five minutes when one of the above gets compromised?
