And no, you most certainly "don't get your period" for three months. I'm talking many, many girls bleed fairly constantly, with varying degrees of blood flow. Some spot continuously, some have what's called hell on earth, and they have a period for a month or more. It's fairly uncommon *not* to bleed on Depo. Of course everyone is different, but it's a well known side effect than many women have. Also, more women tend to gain weight on Depo than other birth controls. I'm not sure if it's because it's a large dose of estradiol or what. If I take anything with a high estrogen potency, I gain a ton of weight. I'm assuming I'm not alone.
I'm pretty terrible about taking BC. It's not intentional at all. I'll set an alarm, it'll go off, and I'll be like ok I need to take my pill. And then I get sidetracked and I don't take it for hours or until the next day. But since I'm not nuts, I made the bf use a condom when that happened (which was often). It got to the point where it was so pointless because we were using condoms all the time anyway that I just stopped taking it. That said, I've been seriously looking into Implanon.
Ah, I think I just had that in my head because that's what happened to my sister. The breakthrough bleeding thing sounds terrible though - I know some people have that issue even with the pill. And the whole weight gain thing is tough too. I remember after I broke up with my ex, a few months later I saw her start to get really fat and i was like "WTF dodged a bullet LOL" -- found out she tried the depo shot with her new bf. She lost the weight after going off it, unfortunately.
IDK - I just wouldn't want my significant other messing with Depo...seems too intense. That implant thing you're talking about sounds interesting though.

They came out with one years ago. Doesn't do anything about the baby, but it changes the fathers blood type.
I JK.
There's one that's being passed through FDA trials right now that's a small injection into your dick with a special polymer that kills all the sperm as you jizz it out. I think it lasts a year or two and you just go back to your doctor and take a pill to pass it if you want to have kids.
I have a theory that once a male birth control method is perfected we will see STD rates rise in the decade that follows. Tons of guys are already idiots about wrapping it up (myself included, I've been stupid with a random before...got tested a few weeks later and was fine...still, was dumb.)....so if they know there's no chance they can impregnate a girl...I just see them being like "aww come on baby, it's my birthday!"
Depending on the drunkenness/stupidness of the girl, maybe she'd be more likely to acquiesce in that case. I say this knowing that some of my sisters hot, but very dumb, friends have used the "pull out" method in the past in the heat of the moment.
