Can we fold this into the female voter thread and change the title? We really don't need another US politics thread.

Mayo?

(yeah yeah look who's talking etc)

Bear in mind that Obama was in the senate for those last few years of Bush's administration. He had all of the information first hand, he was in there from day one of his term as a senator. Then he campaigned for presidency knowing what he knew from inside the senate, and swearing he had a plan to fix everything.

"It was a bigger problem than we realized" doesn't fly with me. He had as much information as anyone could have gotten. "We haven't gotten as much done as we should have/would have liked to" would have been a more honest answer from the president.

edit: and we haven't ended two wars. There's still a lot of troops in iraq, and afganistan still has fighting to be done. I dont like the way either of those two wars were fought by either Bush or Obama, but i'm so sick of both I'm just going to leave them alone.

I think it's time for a strong candidate to take the hard position and clearly state "I'm against those things that everybody hates."

I'm ready to call the election for Obummer. Ohio's been polling pretty blue for a while now save for a stint after the first debate and the Pro-Obama ads here are hammering in that Romney didn't want the bailout for Detroit.

Do you mean to say you believe Obama will win the election, or do you believe he will be the next President?

I've seen three articles in the last few days suggesting the possibility that the election will end up with the outcome of a Romney Presidency with Joe Biden as VP...which is possible, but highly improbable. It still suggests that the election at this point is entirely too close for anyone to be certain of a clear victor until the votes are all counted.

You have absolutely no idea how our political system works.

Besides, the media is mired in left-wing bias. So why believe anything they say?

Now I am spitefully hoping something stupid like the Romney-Biden Administration happens just so I can add that to my quote train of stupid and/or contradictory things you've said.

HEY ETURNAL!

The Economist has officially endorsed Obama (albeit begrudgingly). If you want to educate yourself, read their piece in which they rip on both candidates equally...but ultimately decide that Obama is the lesser of two evils. They know a lot about economics, so what say you?

http://www.economist.com/news/leaders/2 ... -which-one

Quote:
As a result, this election offers American voters an unedifying choice. Many of The Economist’s readers, especially those who run businesses in America, may well conclude that nothing could be worse than another four years of Mr Obama. We beg to differ. For all his businesslike intentions, Mr Romney has an economic plan that works only if you don’t believe most of what he says. That is not a convincing pitch for a chief executive. And for all his shortcomings, Mr Obama has dragged America’s economy back from the brink of disaster, and has made a decent fist of foreign policy. So this newspaper would stick with the devil it knows, and re-elect him.

Whatever the media does, reporting based on objective reality is never the driving force.

My belief is they are just hedging their bets.

Obamacare isn't big government. It's far less "government" for healthcare than the rest of the civilized world. And the care is mostly provided by insurance companies. It makes more business for corps, they're just grousing because now they can't deny care to people with pre-existing conditions. Go figure.

Besides, the Economist is British. To them, Obama is center-right, and Romney is an extremist.
