I don't think I'll go with Amazon at least for now. I know shared servers are gonna depend on who I share with but would it be worth looking into a virtual over shared? No money for dedicated.

You could try Red Hat's OpenShift. The downsides to Openshift are: you don't get a .com/.net/.co.uk address, and that you have to use Git as essentially your FTP client.

Where did you end up going with for hosting?
I just recently moved (http://gregschilling.us last weekend, http://kittensinpants.com today) my hosting from an old computer in my apartment to Rackspace and am pretty satisfied so far. I have my domains registered through GoDaddy, but point the domains to Rackspace's DNS servers
