That's not solo, and they live in a backwater state away from the coasts; you live in pseudo-metropolitan Maryland.

Ask me about rent near me. Do it.

I used to think about moving to a smaller, less-populated state, but with having spent several weeks in Des Moines and several weeks in Chicago this year, I think I'd die of boredom.

Most good Midwest states border the Great Lakes.

I live in Manhattan, Weena.

That said, northern and central NJ has generally high rent rates because it's close to NY, has excellent public schools, is on a coast, and has high employment.

(It's okay. The rest of the country refuses to accept that New Jersey is better than them. It's been like that for decades)

I don't hate jersey.

I just hate jersey shore(the show) type people, and they aren't confined to jersey.

Yeah, most of them aren't even from Jersey. A majority are from Staten Island or elsewhere in the NE.

I live outside Philly in Jersey. Is that considered Central or South Jersey, because it's a pretty nice area. Good schools good jobs etc.

That's south Jersey, but it's not south south Jersey.

I seem to be similarly bad with money.

As it appears currently I will be about $2000 short on my tuition/dorm/etc/etc/etc fees and will probably end up working this semester to make up for it.
No desire to ask my parents to cover this -.-

So fubros where do you think I should try to get a job? (besides the obvious-anywhere that'll take me)

Besides a typical shitty minimum wage job? (Just a reminder, in real terms, your minimum wage is about twice that of the States)

What about import/export? Now that I'm going to be moving to Cincinnati, I am wondering if we could somehow profitably exchange canned Cincinnati chili for canned Canadian poutine. Or something like that. I am serious.

I know Canada has price controls on prescription medications, and lower taxes on tobacco. Aren't there other products that are sold for less in Canada than in the States that could be resold here at a profit, without getting busted by the FBI? Umm. Furniture, maple syrup, woodworks, copperware novelties? Do you live near an indigenous persons reservation - maybe resell some of their handcrafts? Conversely, what does Canada place extra taxes on, or is generally expensive to buy there? What products are unique to Canada or the States?

Tell me more about your local demographics and economy. What does your region produce? What are your big industries/employers? Who are the stupidest part of your population? Do you have any knowledge of how your local laws differ from those of the US?

WAIT WAIT WAIT I GOT AN IDEA

Image

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase-out_ ... lbs#Canada

Quote:
In April 2007, Ontario's Minister of Energy Dwight Duncan announced the provincial government's intention to ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs by 2012...On Nov 9, 2011, the federal government approved a proposal to delay new energy efficiency standards for light bulbs until Jan. 1, 2014, when it will become illegal to import inefficient incandescent lighting across the country.

I could ship you incandescent light bulbs, which you could sell to stubborn old people at a markup. Why don't you print some fliers and post them at your local old folks home, or at your local churches or community centers? Say you have a hoard of incandescent lights and are willing to sell them to the stubborn at high prices.

I *am* serious. A lot of people will pay top dollar for the bulbs.

If you don't fancy becoming a smuggler, I enjoyed the couple years I spent working at the movie theater. You can work nights so it doesn't rape your college schedule.

I wonder if I could get into tutoring but I wouldn't know where to begin.

Maybe mazel could chime in here or someone could point to where he posted last time someone asked about it :)
