Navy warns you not to do something
You do so anyway
Navy boards your vessel
You attack with poles, knives, firebombs
They retaliate with paintball guns(the fuck?) and when those are ineffective, real guns
You're the victim in this scenario

I'm not a fan of Israel, but really this was seemingly just a well orchestrated pr campaign against Israel.

Yes, a terrorist organization is so-called. Libya used to be called terrorist and with the stroke of a pen that was changed. We don't call all sorts of violent and criminal organizations affiliated with American interests terrorist.

Al Qaeda has no connection to what is going on in Palestine. Your post is ignorant and bigoted.

Also consider those same European soldiers unilaterally invaded Afganistan during the 19th century and again during the Soviet invasion. How was that civil? What business did they have there?

I do not consider people who are wielding blunt instruments unarmed, especially when said people are so willing to use them.

Clubs went out of style in infantry warfare back in 1914 because they were useless. Never mind - again - the Israelis faced these people only because they got up on their ships in the first place. What if they had not? What bad would have come of it?

It's a fucking wooden club wielded by some kid. Fat lot of good that will do versus a veteran commando in body armor meant to withstand artillery shells.

A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist. I don't care if they're from Hamas or Al Qaeda or Uncle Bob's Tranny's-Only Abortion Bomber Brigade.

You are attempting to compare apples (crazy people who want to kill other people) to oranges (at least slightly less crazy people who are responding to other people trying to kill them, doing their very best not to kill innocent parties) as if they are the same thing. You are attempting to do so by suggesting that it's merely a "point-of-view" distinction. It's not. I don't care what official label some bureaucrat somewhere slapped on w/e country or group.

Al Qaeda and Bin Laden certainly weren't terrorists when we were training and funding them.

Define the term, then.

That's exactly what it is. Either you're using the term colloquially according to the definition you supply, or you're using the official term, which is designated according to a list maintained by the State Department, and has legal ramifications.

There are several groups of people who would probably like to address your assertion about the "uselessness" of clubs. I'd suggest that at least one of these people is the Israeli soldier lying in a hospital bed right now because these "peaceful" demonstrators used him for a pinata.

And, as Aestu mentioned earlier - why trust the Israeli military over civilians? They're just as likely to be biased in the matter (if not moreso), than the civilian activists, ntm that the civilians were detained until yesterday.

I was listening to a good roundtable on the CBC earlier today about this issue, and they made some really excellent points about Israeli's ability to spin this whatever way they wanted - just because they've controlled the media coverage of the event since Monday.

If Israel was so worried about the boat carrying weapons, why not confirm the cargo of the ships from Turkey before hand? They have a trade agreement w/Turkey, and it'd be foolish of the Turkish government to decline their wish to examine the cargo before it headed for/into Israeli waters.

If the so called activists really had nothing to hide and were just providing aid why not just comply with the Israeli's and stop at the inspection checkpoint ?

Israel lets in over 15tons of goods into Gaza is it so bad they don't want hamas to get more weapons to fire into their country again?

Why should they have stopped at an illegal inspection point? Granted, the legality of the blockade/etc is still under discussion, but we'll see where that heads - especially because Israel gets to conduct the investigation themselves, lol.

I'm sure a manifest of the ships cargo will be released with the investigation, but again, it's being conducted by Israel so I doubt the results will be impartial.

15 tons of goods isn't enough to support the infrastructure of a town of 1,500, let alone an entire nation's population in war time especially when ALL goods are heavily regulated in and out - food, water, medical supplies, etc.

If the Muslims would lay down, shut up and let Israel chill like pimps, we wouldn't have problems. Unfortunately, Middle-east Muslims are a stupid breed who will continually battle the Jews because the Qu'ran says they're not friends.

You realize that Turkey is Muslim and has coexisted with the Jews since before the state even existed? Or that Jews and Muslims got along for thousands of years while the Jews were in Europe? Iran STILL has tens if not hundreds of thousands of Jews and they get by.

The issue is that the Israelis are taking their land. You really think it's reasonable to lay down to that?

TLDR = Israel does not fuck around so don't fuck with them if they want to board your ship.
