Does hazing exist? Sure.
Could they beat the shit out of me? You bet.
Would that accomplish what they want it to? That's the big question.

Do you think I have a "superiority complex", Akiina?

Basic was one of the more enjoyable experiences I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing...

It's hard to say that I was broken though. I went in knowing exactly what to expect and I didn't really have an attitude or ego going in.

i thought id be all invincible and shit, protected by rights. well, they technically aren't violating your rights when they smoke the shit out of you for hours. also, when they get in your face and "accidentally" peck the bridge of your nose with their DS hats over and over.

Closing paragraph of my graduation paper:

"One of the most marvelous recurring themes of history is small individuals making what they believe are minor professional choices that lead to outcomes that the world at large must live with for millennia to come. We live today with the consequences of what Aemilius chose to do, just as we live with the decisions made by Roman or Seleucid city planners who certainly didn’t think for a moment that, for thousands of years to come, people would have to live with the choices they made in where to put a road or city block. The enduring constant of the stupidity of small human authorities does much to influence my perception of it in our world today, and hence my take on it: “Ne vereor”.

oh aestu, paraphrasing yourself. you tickle me. eloquently stated, though. im wrapping up my third deployment to a hot, shitty, sandy, garbage filled, smelly, disease infested, wasteland because some dumb politicians decided we needed to purge the area of its indigenous peoples.

He is a Jew though, and I'm not particularly sure "fear" is the word the describes his relationship to that list of things you wrote.

Not to go all Godwin, but didn't Hitler have at least one Jewish grandparent, which was in part the reason for his irrational hatred of an entire people? It's not unheard of for someone to go all "Uncle Ruckus" and decide to hate their own people.
