i met lots of dudes exactly like Aestu in basic. i was one of them. we all cracked. one by one.

Basic was one of the more enjoyable experiences I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing...

It's hard to say that I was broken though. I went in knowing exactly what to expect and I didn't really have an attitude or ego going in.

i thought id be all invincible and shit, protected by rights. well, they technically aren't violating your rights when they smoke the shit out of you for hours. also, when they get in your face and "accidentally" peck the bridge of your nose with their DS hats over and over.

yeah i said i used to. before i joined the army and realized that no matter how smart you are in life, complete idiots can still be your bosses.

oh aestu, paraphrasing yourself. you tickle me. eloquently stated, though. im wrapping up my third deployment to a hot, shitty, sandy, garbage filled, smelly, disease infested, wasteland because some dumb politicians decided we needed to purge the area of its indigenous peoples.

Not to go all Godwin, but didn't Hitler have at least one Jewish grandparent, which was in part the reason for his irrational hatred of an entire people? It's not unheard of for someone to go all "Uncle Ruckus" and decide to hate their own people.
