yeah I know, with the team they've got this time i was really surprised they lost to them, feel bad for honduras, they're gonna get their ass kicked since spain feels like they're on the ropes now

there's a lot of diving in soccer, but there's a lot of faking/exaggeration in basketball too...

anyways...

i've been a ref since 2000 and do a lot of div 1/2 mens games and high level youth/highschool. I was also an AR at the National Croatian Tournament last summer when it was in ohio for two quarter-final games and a semi-final (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Croatian-N ... Tournament)

I am no where near the level of the refs at the world cup. In fact, there are ZERO US refs at the world cup. Many of my superiors have told me not to watch foreign refs because that is not how the federation (united states soccer federation) wants us to ref. Yet FIFA picks all non-US refs...apparently we're doing something wrong...

I didn't actually see the germany game this morning, but i saw a replay of the second yellow given to klose and it seemed legit to me. Especially since he already had one card, the ref is going to keep a closer eye on him.

I did watch the US game though, and the goal that wasn't...more than likely should have been...

I think everyone was surprised, but it wasn't that shocking when you think about the strategy. Spain is ALL offense, so Switzerland just had to knock one by and then turtle for the rest of the match.

field hockey is better than soccer though.

I modified my work schedule so like 80% of my day is either streaming the world cup in the background or in meetings or off at lunch.

soccer is a terrible sport. trying to watch it with those retarded horns going off? might as well go kill yourself.

those should quiet down quite a bit once South Africa is out. But yeah it's so annoying just hearing bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for the duration of a game.


Also lol @ England playing so bad, gonna have to talk to a few of my friends that are diehards and poke fun at them, especially if the US advances (which they most likely will tbh).

Provided its extremely limited usage, like if a goal is scored and they want to review it, or perhaps a coaches challenge format, then i can agree. Anything more and it will become a blight on the game. Not as big a blight as diving is, which really should be a suspendable offense. They just need to man up, write a new rule, and enforce it. Diving is the only thing stopping me from actually enjoying Football completely.
