last night i finally saw twilight (the first movie). of course, this is because i watched the rifftrax of it.
rifftrax was hilarious. movie was atrocious.
i've watched some bad movies in my time, and i like quite a few of them. the movie wasn't bad as in it was made poorly (though the effects were a bit lame). it was bad as in the characters were paper thin and the writing was terrible.
while romantic movies are not the ones i typically seek out, i do enjoy them well enough and have seen a couple of really good ones in my time. there was no romance in this movie. there were long sessions of staring at one another followed by sudden and entirely unfounded proclamations of "love" and "need" for the other, but if you think that's romantic then you're probably a socially inept virgin who has never been in a real relationship.
you see, there's a whole middle bit to romance which includes things like getting to know a person and finding a deep connection with them.
calling twilight romance is like seeing a skin flick where you see the cable repairman come in, and then cut immediately to jizz splashing on her face and calling it porn. yes, it has some of the elements of porn, but it left out all the fucking.

but the rifftrax was brutal and hilarious. that, i recommend.
