You can name yourself whatever the fuck you want provided that you make some sort of in-game identification. Exceptions are made for those people who don't play anymore, but we obviously know who those gents are.

in early elementary school i remember having to read some really shitty short story by some guy i don't know that was supposedly famous. i barely remember anything about it except one of the characters.

the setting was a world of forced equality, where thin people had to wear weights to equalize them with fat people, people with perfect vision had to wear glasses to give them average vision, shit like that. and the feminazi in charge of the process was this haggard old bitch named "Diana Moon Glampers, the Handicapper General" (????)

after reading that thread and briefly studying up on the history of this vezir guy, i was instantly reminded of that short story from my childhood and it's heroine.

I believe you're thinking of Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut. Had to read it in Lit. :[
