I definitely think the new talent system is very good idea.

Making talent builds isn't actually fun. Altho i don't see this improving on it. I just like how you cut a respec from 71 clicks down to 41 or whatever. Removing bloat is p good.

Also if they kill off enough crit talents and such, maybe crit will become a more attractive stat since going from 15% to 20% is more awesome than going from 65% to 70%. If they continue to leave all that extra crit and stuff in the trees then i'll be a bit disappointed.

But not really.

Nothing can compare to this realid shitfest.

I'd say, look at the frost mage tree to see why this is awesome.

Ice Floes, 3 points, reduces cooldown of some shit.
Cold as Ice, 2 points, reduces the cooldown of different shit.

Precision is hit and mana cost reduction, they already said they're killing hit talents, 3 points.
Frost channeling is threat and mana cost reduction, they already said they're killing threat drop talents, 3 points.

Arctic Winds, 5% more damage done. 5 points.
Chilled to the bone, 5% more damage done. 5 points.
Piercing Ice, 3 points, 6% damage done.

Arctic Winds, 2 points for range.
Improved Frostbolt, and later empowered frostbolt, total of 5 points for cast time reduction.
Make both of these passive.

How fucking boring are those talents? Nuke them all, make a passive bonus for speccing into frost "lower mana cost, more damage, lower cooldowns".

Now you cut a 74 point tree to 43, and every talent left are the "iconic" frost mage abilities - shatter, water ele stuff, ice barrier, deep freeze. There's still flex room with putting more points in the frost tree to reduce damage taken and add shattered barrier for PvP, or sub speccing into fire/arcane for pve.

I don't think it'll be that bad.

a post on the mmochamp forums that changed my mind about the 31 point talent lock. i now see the purpose behind it and think it's not a bad idea.
