Thoughts? Some classes seem just right and others you wish you had more or less points. Then again, they're still working on them and some trees or more developed than others.

I kinda hope they remove the requirement to put 31 points in one tree before moving to the next, least at max level or something, that just makes everything more cookie cutter than is now.

I actually like the shorter talent trees with the 31 point requirement. I see too many people (non-pvp builds, that is a different story) that have talents that make no sense because they think it will help in some way. The exact talents themselves are still up in the air and will be reworked many times before release so I wont get too crazy about them until closer to release.

My biggest question is going to be dual spec. I have seen/heard three different storys. One was that it was not changing at all, good, but let us know so we know how my gold to set aside for alts. I have heard that it was going to be free to all and right away, bad idea, you need to learn to play your class in one role before trying all three. And I have heard that it could be at level 10 but cost 1k. If they dont keep it the same I like the last option better because in order to get 1k gold you either have to farm it with a higher level toon, hence know the game a little better, or buy the gold and hopefully get your account hacked and perma banned. Yes I hate gold sellers but it is the buyers that keep them in business.

9 level 90s and 10 85s, Damn I need another hobby.

things i'm excited about for combat rogues:

- adrenaline rush - giving a haste buff as well
- revealing strike - yay adding a new combo point generator to my rotation
- blade flurry - not listed on the talents, but supposedly 30 second cd (but now with an energy regen nerf while active). yay for being able to hold my own on cleave fights while also not needing to use it for single targets.
- blade twisting - 40% proc rate. yay passive snare.
- restless blades - sexy sexy talent

things i'm not sure about yet:

- bandit's guile - i'm intrigued by the idea and it will be awesome for trash and bosses with adds. will make combat truly the target switching spec for rogues. just hope it doesn't completely suck for single target fights.

things i'm not happy about:

- quickening - i want this talent. i will get this talent. but to do so, i have to blatantly forgo cookie-cutter dps increasing talents (ruthlessness / relentless strikes)

thing i won't get but i wish i could:

- deadly momentum - would be very sexy for trash or adds, but i just don't foresee myself being able to afford getting it.

supposedly they're not done with the assassination tree though so we'll see about how the quickening and deadly momentum situation works out.

Unless they revamp soulfire (ie. make it less than a 6 second cast), I don't like how they're trying to shove it down destro's throat. Then again, I've always thought that Decimation (warlock execute) should've always been a destro talent anyways.

Bane of Havoc is somewhat interesting, but I feel that destro really hasn't gotten a lot of the creative love a lot of the other specs have (ex. Demonology getting a meteor).

Blood -

Butchery - should've been removed
Blade Barrier - Always liked it, glad it's still there and less talents
Bladed Armor - Stupid that they need this type of talent for tanks, assuming they are just making this a sub dps tree :(
Scent of Blood - Maybe necessary in cata, but near useless now
Scarlet Fever - Yes pls
BCB - Meh, parry haste has me worried
Abom Might - Yes pls
Bone Shield - Yes pls
Sanguine Fortitude - Yes pls
Toughness - Yes pls
Blood Parasite - Maybe helpful in cata, but useless right now.
WoTN - Oh god yes fucking pls <3 this new buff
Rune Tap - Amazing with WOTN now
IBP - Yes pls
VB - Yes pls
Imp DS - Yes pls
Crimson Scourge - Yes pls
DRW - weeee more buffs!

As far as I can tell, they took the damage off Blade Twisting, which makes it basicly useless unless you plan on not using crip poison. But hey, extra slow chances are always nice.

I think Bandit's Guile is going to work kinda like Shadowmourne does. It slowly stacks up and then at full stacks it drops and resets and resets when you change targets.

DK frost looks good, unholy looks untouched so thats good or bad. both look decent for pvp, though unholy didn't gain massive damage increases that frost did.

bloods a tank spec so fuck it.

ps theres no parry haste in cata.

they only added the damage onto blade twisting to make people get it because it was pointless originally (10% proc rate). and i definitely plan on not using crip poison... also daze can't be spam cleansed so that's useful.

i guess i could get imp kick or more armor instead but i'd take a passive snare without taking up a poison slot over those any day.

I really like them at first blush, though the feral one through me off - I was dinking around and could pretty much drop every single point I had in feral w/o having to divest into other trees - I kinda hope that gets ramified.

Sounds like Explosive Shot and Aimed are going to be trainable.

I don't know what Arcane Shot will be then, it'll probably be to ES what old Divine Protection was to Divine Shield, in that once you got the latter, the former was no longer used.

Which is dumb tbh.

Scatter Shot better be trainable.

Silencing Shot is high enough that every hunter will have it now for PvP (get mad Meowth).

They scrapped Deflection and made Counterattack a stand alone talent near the top of Survival, which means it will actually get used, assuming they increase innate Parry chances.

It sounded like they were going to do things to The Beast Within to make it not a CC immunity. I don't know if was just going to be more damage output or a trinket effect, maybe affected by readiness then, but it's still the same here.

Pathfinding is still there and as useless as ever. Don't ask me why. Only way I can see it being worthwhile to have a talent pertaining to AoC and AoP is if it reduced/removed the dazed time or greatly increased the speed.

Kindred Spirits completely changed. Good-bye great movement speed and damage increase :(

Aimed Shot is going back to a cast time (2 seconds IIRC), and will be designed to be paired with Camouflage which increases your next shot's damage. This will be even more awesome with the new Careful Aim. Inc 110% chance to crit before reductions.

Black Arrow is lame. It also confounds me why you would have an ability in the Survival tree be nothing more than a fucking DoT, when the Survival tree is heavily focused on breakable CC's. Considering they've also removed the 6% buff to all damage on it. Useless as fuck.

Instead of Rhumba, Black Arrow should have the same thing except when it ticks it would summon skeletons. OH WAIT, THAT'S NOT HUNTER LIKE.

OH WAIT AGAIN, NEITHER IS A SHADOW ATTACK.

BUT DARK RANGERS ARE LIKE HUNTERS AND HAD IT.

DARK RANGERS ALSO SUMMONED FUCKING SKELETONS, SO WHERE ARE OUR FUCKING SKELETONS?

In any case, the talent trees look pretty decent at this point. Atleast not any less decent than they do now. So right now the biggest blemish to hit the Hunter class in Cataclysm is Undead.

"Ok we aren't such things and birds are pretty advanced. They fly and shit from anywhere they want. While we sit on our automatic toilets, they're shitting on people and my car while a cool breeze tickles their anus. That's the life."

Shadow tree forces you to make either of two choices:

You spec for mobility over stationary dps (drop imp shadow orbs to pick up shadow apparitions), and lose some passive damage in favor of 15% mindflay damage on SW:P ticks while moving.

Or.. you drop dispersion to get both and to max improved inner fire, in the Disc tree.

8 points in disc is pretty mandatory for a shadow build either way.

Also, @Weena, when you get choose your "spec" at level 10, you get an automatic skill which are a lot of the 31/41/51 talents that aren't in the trees anymore (Ex. Destro lock is conflag, Enhance Shaman is DW, and Surv Hunter is ES).
