I have a great aunt who is very interested in this sort of stuff. Luckily, my family has been French for centuries (since France became France, really), and a good deal of my older relatives have detailed family trees. On my mother's side, (well, a fraction of it) I'm partially Viking because of the raids on the northern French coast circa the 900s. On my father's side, I'm half Breton (northwestern France, of celtic origin) and half Ile-de-France. There's also a tiny Italian percent on my mother's side we don't talk about.

My last name is very Breton, but my mother's maiden name is more typical north-central.

all i know is my family raped and pillaged the entire european continent for several hundred years. apparently it ended with the oldest known ancestor on my father's side: Ragnar Lodbrok who terrorized western France before dying in England. on my mother's side i am a direct descendant of Erik The Red.

if you're referring to my awesome baldness it is purely because throughout my years i realized the aerodynamic flaws of hair and forced my hair to recede by iron will alone.

My grandmother was adopted, so that makes things a bit complicated. My grandfather on my mom's site did a lot of research into his side of the family, he found ties to Helen Keller and Nathan Hale, among others. I'm not sure about my grandparents on my father's side.
