Nothing against RM, but your claims are malarkey. RM worked on the AQ gates, they wiped for months on 4H-40
RM was not really in the running for AQ gates and never saw 4H in Vanilla (literally, never saw them; wiped for a few weeks on Gothik after clearing the other 3 wings and then TBC hit). And the fact that RM is usually server 2nd or 3rd (or even, rarely, 1st) means almost nothing on BH, where there are only ever 2 or 3 guilds really progressing at all in new content when it's released. Coming in second in a two person race doesn't say anything about how hardcore you are.

All that takes copious time and commitment, not merely showing up when people as individuals might rather not, but also caring, wanting to win so badly. That's not a casual attitude; to paraphrase Patton, people who lose and laugh rarely win in the first place.
Refuted not only by my own explicit statement that I only play because I enjoy it, but also refuted by your later conclusion that people who don't play because it's fun will leave.

Certainly you cared enough about wanting to do the content at any cost you held onto Kazmur, Violence, Zanick and other players who were generally hated because they were needed.
We kept Kazmur around because as much as he grated on some people's nerves, he had earned his spot and deserved as much patience as possible. We did not keep him because we needed him, as evidenced by the fact that his leaving did not produce even the slightest blip in our ability to tank the encounters. I have never known RM to keep someone around because of a cynical belief that they are needed.

So don't portray your guild as a casual drinking party sort of organization
You've clearly never played with Bigchief. Or me for that matter (I'm usually drinking when I raid).
RM has had several players leave in hopes to join guilds that take progression more seriously, who are more "hardcore" and less "casual". I've never really faulted them for it, because if that's what they want, they really won't find it in RM. Our guild is full of people who enjoy raiding and joke around a LOT on vent while we do it. You're right that we don't willfully hinder ourselves in progression, but the real secret to our success is that we're competent enough to learn and defeat the encounters, and we enjoy playing enough to show up and do it. That's about all there is to it.
And as a parting thought, it is a strange thing for a guild that is constantly jockeying for server firsts to not bother to raid on Tuesdays.
