A fiscally conservative liberal?

A socially liberal conservative?

Not sure what you would call it.

Moderate?

I am a fiscal conservative and a social moderate, but I'd consider myself a Republican :)

I'm registered as an Independent. As of late I find general Republican policy increasingly at odds with my beliefs and/or common sense.

Drilling for more oil in the gulf and/or tapping into the Alaskan Wildlife Reserve are not answers for our energy dependence. Promoting Solar/Fuel Cell/(gasp!)Nuclear research are far more important long term.

The Patriot act is an abhorrent shit taken on the constitution (hint: the terrorists goal was to fuck with our way of life- mission accomplished as far as they're concerned). It's existence was a knee-jerk reaction to 9/11 in what Family Guy describes better than I could- "How much money until I can feel safe again????"

Anyone who opposed the Patriot Act was tarred and feathered as hating America. That's the only reason it got passed, and it continues to be justified with the "But think of the terrorists!!11111one" argument. There are plenty of other preventable things that kill more people yearly than terrorism. Car accidents and cigarettes come to mind, but where's the War on Automobiles or War on Tobacco (excluding the War on Drugs, which is another argument all together).

Health care desperately needed something. I've been on my own insurance plan for the last 6 years. When I first started, I paid $125 a month for fairly comprehensive coverage. Every year since, my premiums have increased, despite having no claims beyond a yearly checkup. I have a clean bill of health, no medical problems, no expenses, no conditions. Now I'm paying $275 a month for the same coverage. This was pre-Obamacare. I don't know what my premiums will be next year post Obamacare, but I'm sure they'll be jacked up with or without Obamacare. At least with Obamacare, I can find out how much of my premium actually goes towards paying medical expenses, as opposed to the CEO's 4th vacation mansion.

Rest assured I'd jump on the public option the second it would have become available, if Republicans didn't scream like little bitches about it.

Don't even get me started on the War on Terror(TM). You guys like to bitch about deficits and runaway government spending- http://www.costofwar.com. 'Nuff said.

If one side puts forth a law, or an act, or whatever, and then in the next round of elections the OTHER side has an overwhelming majority and the white house but doesn't repeal said act or law, then everyone is to blame.

I've no doubt i'd have to be a Republikan by default cause the other guys spend money on shit i don't care about and care too much about issues which i'm too bigoted to concern myself with.

But both choices suck, and it's the one thing keeping me from ever considering living in Amerika. If being an independant wasn't a wasted vote, i'd be that. I'd go insane putting up with your politikal horseshit. Can't believe they're considering dropping MMP here. We'll end up just like you guys, and i can already feel the 'far left' and 'far right' rhetoric creeping into the politikal lingo here, and it makes me want to throw up.

It's ok though, i have Blizzard games. SC2 is pretty good.

If you hate taxes and like spending money to feed the military industrial complex, and enjoy taking a shit all over the rights of minorities, women, homosexuals and basically anyone who's not rich old and white...the Republican party is for you.

If you LOVE taxes and like spending money to feed the military industrial complex, and EVERYTHING ELSE possible to spend money on, and you cry foul and call up Al Sharpton, ACLU, Planned Parenthood and call everyone who opposes ANYTHING related to homosexual marriage, civil unions, visitation rights or anything a BIGOT, the Democratic party is for you.

Fiscally Conservative
Moderate to Conservative on Social Issues, but not extreme Conservative.

I align myself most with the Republicans because the Democrats are fucking stupid when it comes to... almost everything.

TBH the lines are so blurred between Democrat and Republican I'd rather call myself a progessive independent.

No, the lines are so blurred that we should call ourselves...

PIRATES!!!!!!

We could be the Salty Dog party, and have a platform the best platform ever:

Healthcare--Wooden Prosthetics and Eye Patches for everyone.
Economy--Steal cargo from the merchants ships to repay the deficit.
Military--Best ships on the High Seas!
Immigration--No ninjas...ever.

It's genius. We must do this now to save the future of our country!

Jubber

I put down Democrat because I'm not a pretentious enough to pretend to be an Independent. I've been a registered Democrat since I became American 5 years ago.

(I'm reading all those "Other" as Democrats who think they're hip and trendy, with the exception of Crebain who probably meant what he said)
