Looking for advice...must have following features

-Simple and easy to work with (prefer tool-free design)

-Very limited functionality (no proprietary fan/light switches, no integrated media stuff, preferably not even USB ports)

-Visually plain and simple (no flashy lights or brilliant color scheme, preferably a simple cobalt, black, grey white or beige scheme)

-Excellent airflow

-I'd really like it to have integrated, user-serviceable dust filters

-I don't like those Antec grilles that gather dust from the air flowing through them, nor those weird, crystal-shaped grilles - I want a simple flush surface

-Preferably aluminum construction, I definitely don't want low-grade steel that can cut or pinch fingers

If someone actually has a really good second-hand case, even an old one (even a very old one from 20 years ago that meets these specifications and is really durable) I'd buy it for gold or cash.

I like the Lian Li professional models but they're way too expensive for the most part. But if someone has one second-hand, I'd take it off their hands...

Otherwise, anyone know a good model? Most of the mainstream "enthusiast" cases I see are way too bling for my taste.

I bet you could craft something on your own if you rent a break and some thin sheet aluminum. It'd probably be a fun project and pretty rewarding if you can pull it off.

A guy I used to work with made a computer for his truck - it sat on the ground between the seats and the shifter and all interfaces faced upward. It was really slick. He made it out of wood and metal.

Newegg.com and search by lowest cost sounds about right. I see some fairly generic Foxconn cases through UPS delivered occasionally though.
