So I'm taking a spin around Uldum farming ore mindlessly so I can do my daily and I spot this 85 undead rogue zipping around but never stopping, so I drop in behind him and keep up to see what hes doing. While tailing him he never stopped, didn't even give me any rude emotes so I started to suspect he was a bot. Sure enough he eventually swoops down for an Elementium node to mine it, so I drop down and commence with smacking him around; never once did he use any offensive or defensive ability, just sat there and repeatedly tried to mine between my attacks.

I figure this is as good a place as any to keep track of obvious botters, since Blizzard doesn't seem to give a shit. Post their names, screenshots of you teabagging them or whatever floats your boat, easy honor for even the worst of pvpers with time to spare!

I personally endorse this idea. Bot thread just like our Ninja thread. If nothing else, we can get some good cheap HKs for our pals on the other side of the server. The rogue Helig killed only had 68k health...at Lvl. 85. The only thing they were wearing that wasn't WotLK gear was the 333 fist weps from JC.

Please sticky for use/reference, Faggots.

Breaking ToS is ok as long as you pay and don't piss off too many people.

When account-wide forum avatars were proposed as part of the new forums, it was quietly killed along with the "real names on forum posts" proposal that was so unpopular, despite being totally discrete, because it would have deprived the Mod Squad of their main means of quelling dissent. It would have meant the end of Grey posting.

Of course, is blizzard supports this stuff(which I'm not saying they don't) then whats to stop them from having free accounts for people to post on? not hard to conjure an entire character + history if you own the servers.

I'm not saying whether or not they do it, but if they did, that account-wide forum avatar thing wouldn't be the end of grey posters.

lol this

Actually if you are gonna bot at least stay off BGs. And turn off the setting to ninja herbs/ore. Or just go Horde and I won't care at all.

Nosian, Forsake frost mage, <Pulp Fiction> BH Horde

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/bleeding-hollow/nosian/advanced

I may have screen shots.

I busted this guy bot mining in Hyjial. He kept getting tagged by a mob and could not get off the ground. I killed him, he took rez sickness, I killed him again. This went on for a half an hour. He had 9k health because every bit of his gear was broken. Reported to Blizz and got the typical "We cannot tell you what we did becasue of privacy" but I am sure they did nothing.

Oh and I logged on my horde toon to talk with his guildies and got ignored by ever one of them, so apparently Pulp Fiction does not care about having bots in guild.

Oh, and Uldum at 5 am is horrible. There are so many bots that you might as well wait until 8 pm so you at least can fight real people for mining nodes. The level 70s that are terrain hacking are the special ones. If I see another nake belf pally underground I am going to step on babies.

Back during classic I was leveling a rogue with a warrior guildie. We were going to tanaris and running south through 1k needles. Just as we hit the mirage flats we see a hunter. He was a couple levels higher level than us, but two on one lets go for it. We jump him and kill him fairly quickly.

Now, the comp I had at the time was pretty crappy and I couldn't see very far. We patted ourselves on the back for a totally fair kill and started south again. Not 10 yards and we see another hunter. Another kill but this time we realize the guy didn't fight back at all. Looking around we see another 2 hunters. What followed was two hours of doing laps around the flats killing hunters (and after a little while they'd send a very bad rogue to deal with us). Eventually we got bored of killing them and we'd just kill the pet, then interrupt the rez, and the hunter would go to the next mob only to die without a pet. We got close to 650 kills in those two hours, and put a serious dent into production. It was glorious.

This is a very interesting point Aestu. I'd never considered the idea of grey posters until i read that...but it makes perfect sense. Why else would Blizz official forum modding be structured the way it is? They can remove you and every post you ever made for any reason at all, and don't have to explain to the community. They don't force you to see all characters on the account, though they could very easily do this.

That being said, I am cynical when it comes to large companies. Blizzard is so large that unless you could have 100% irrefutable proof that this thing goes on...the community will never come together enough to get any sort of action taken.

It's not that blizz advocates botting, it's just that rooting out the botters would take far too much effort/money for them.

I'm more likely to believe in the unorganized stupidity of forum posters than the organized malice of Blizzard here.

Glad to see I am not the only asshole when it comes to bots (and I mean that in a good way). My buddy Veg and I used to do the same in Feralas when the mobs there were the best source of long elegant feathers for the Admirals Hat pattern. I would kill the pets to the point where they would turn on the master, then kill the master over and over. Veg was a hunter as well so he would feign death on top of them and let the mobs kill them for durability loss.

Whats very funny, but I will freely admit it, but before I knew botting was agains the ToS (this was very early in my WoW days) I downloaded Glider. I found it hard to set up and pointless because I wanted to do quest to level faster rather than just sit there killing boars and bears. I deleted the program and forgot about it until Blizzard filed suit against them. At that point I was very glad I had decided that botting was not for me. Consequently though, since I loaded and ran glider for a short time, I can spot a bot using it from a mile away.
