Yeah, but it's only the presidents who are worshipped as saints that deserve the ironic treatment for it. Reagan isn't the only one, but he's in the top 5 easily.

FDR has the internment of the Japanese airbrushed out of his history, as well as his decision to try and balance the budget in 1937 that led to a steep recession. He is rightly attributed with turning the depression around, but most of that work was done by WW2.

JFK has his involvement in the escalation to war in Vietnam forgotten, as well as is given credit for a lot more than he actually accomplished (though it's not clear he wouldn't have).

Kind of the opposite, but Hoover takes the blame for a stock market crash that happened just after he assumed office, which was much more the fault of Coolidge or other presidents that came before. He's also blamed for doing nothing in the face of the depression, when that's not entirely accurate (he tried to do a few things, he just never tried anything big enough to make a difference).

Clinton is given credit for a huge economic boom which had little to do with his policies, and with balancing the budget which was mostly a result of said economic boom.

A lot of presidents get credit or blame for things that don't really reflect what they actually did.

Edit: I also never said I had a list of 5 in mind, I was only hedging to be reasonable (ie - to not make absolutist statements that I wasn't prepared to back up with hard data). But in my opinion, in recent times, there is no president more mistakenly revered than Ronnie Raygun.
