If the fight were going to be adds based (as it largely was), then I prefer the mentality behind Kel'Thuzad... wave after wave after wave of undead at his disposal. Arthas had a few ghouls, a few big guys, a few ghosts, and a few val'kyrs. It was not overwhelming.
But really, it should have been an element of his adds, but also just his sheer crazy power. And that's something he didn't really have that much of. He didn't have that many "omgwtf everyone just fell over dead" abilities, which you would think would be his specialty.
Fun fight, but I always thought it was more on the level of his generals more than a good end boss fight.
