I'd made a series of extremely critical, but also insightful, posts on the General forum through most of the day while playing the game with my other hand and monitor. Nothing I said was in the least trolling, but much of it was extremely critical of Blizzard policy. Later in the evening I noticed Rygarius, apparently fed up, started moving and locking threads. Of course, I expected a ban, and of course I noticed the characteristic bit of lag upon hitting New Topic and knew what to expect. I had, of course, previously received a final warning:

Image

...and so I expected a banhammer. In response to that particular topic of discussion, I had CC'd the emails between the Mod Squad and myself to the ADL and ACLU. Neither responded directly to me, but if you look at the Alucard recruitment form, it no longer includes the relevant parts.

The dialogue finally ended,

Quote:
Hello,

If they have something like that on their guild website, the link is definitely not allowed on our forums. If they continue to post the link, please report any such threads. The comment about calling a guild not good, as previously mentioned, is not allowed. While the contents of most your post were fine, targeting a guild, regardless of the intention, is not allowed. A forum account may also have its post history removed, this is often regular protocol for a suspension.

-The World of Warcraft Community Team

Anyway, I expected to be permabanned over one of the many deeply critical posts I'd written.
Instead:
Image

Because, you know, Blizzard doesn't tolerate that shit.
I lol'd hard.

Yeah, how fucking dare you bump a recruitment thread in the recruitment forums.

Thinking about it more, I think the truth is that they just didn't like the recruitment post because it reminds them that guild levelling system is retarded.

Hello all,

We understand this is a Guild Recruitment forum and posters here want to make sure their threads are visible. With that said, we want to remind you all that repeatedly bumping threads is a violation of our Forum Guidelines. Forum threads with active discussions are meant to remain at the top of the forums so players can easily find them, however, circumventing this by simply adding "bump" to a thread can result in the removal of one's posting privileges. This includes the same individual bumping a thread repeatedly, or multiple people taking turns bumping a thread.

We'd like to keep this forum as clean and useful as possible, and appreciate your help in assisting us to that end.

Forum Guidelines: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/902031049#2

Do not "bump" posts.

The act of posting simply to bump a thread is considered spamming. This also includes bumping very old threads for no reason (called "necro bumping" or "necroing").

Stickied at the top of the recruitment forum. It's probably a conspiracy, though.

Lately it seems that everything to do with Blizzard is some kind of conspiracy to Aestu.

I could go on like that for hours. Why do you always cite things from the internet in support of some specious, trollish position out of obvious context when doing so only makes you look dumb? I don't get it, tbh. I see you do it a lot.

EDIT: Also, I noticed one of those posts is from VQ. Apparently they've started raiding again. Read the post, it's huge lulz.

Banning someone for giving people shit for linking a site with racist bullshit? Then trying to brush that off as, "Oh, um, you can't say a guild is bad." Seriously? The fucking forums are full of "ur bad." Goddamn GC just set off a QQ storm with a "ur bad/L2P" blog, and Blizzard "doesn't allow that?" It's no wonder he thinks there's a fucking conspiracy, the people at Blizzard are acting like fucking retards.

How is a post labelled "Please Do Not Bump Posts" stickied at the top of the forum you're bumping a post in out of context? You clearly violated a forum rule and received the punishment you were warned you might get. I don't see what's outrageous here.

Also, I would be curious of some examples of me "always citing things from the internet in support of some specious, trollish position"?

So? Perhaps they got banned as well, perhaps Blizzard missed their bumping, or perhaps the rule is inconsistently applied. The fact remains that Aestu did something he was explicitly warned not to and got a punishment he should have expected.

ding.

it's a stupid rule that's poorly enforced, and though technically, his ban was 'deserved' it's well, stupid.

inb4 this turns into a diatribe on the fubu mods and how bad/inconsistent we are :P

So report them too and they will get suspended, or maybe they already did get actioned for it.

Why do you care about the most trivial shit in the world.

I'd more likely believe that they only enforce that rule if someone is reported, and many many people do not like Aestu so...

So, malice or stupidity? With the Mod Squad no one can ever know.
