If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little.

well, shoes are rubber, so you're covered. Watch out for baguettes though.

You'll be glad to learn (if you don't already) that 99.9+% of the matter (visible :P) in the universe is in plasma state then. The solar wind is diffuse plasma (as is the interstellar/intergalactic medium), stars are made of dense plasma.

Also, flux tubes.

(if you look these up, beware of the people who apparently don't like gravitational and nuclear forces for some reason)

I knew plasma was the most abundant source of matter, but 99.9% - is that made up?

Nope, the plasma physicists discovered that there's many different sorts of plasmas, and everything that's baryonic matter and not in liquid, solid or gas form is plasma with varying degrees of ionization, temperature, so on and so forth.

Then again we don't know what ~96% of the universe is constituted of (dark matter/dark energy, their effects are indirectly observed but we have no idea what it is), so you could say that astronomy is the most ignorant field of science. Let's call it a "work in progress", this thing is huge.

Quote:
It's natural enemy is "The Turtle," another ancient Macroverse dweller resembling a God-like deity, who, eons ago, created our universe, and possibly others. The Turtle shows up again in King's series The Dark Tower. The book suggests that It, along with the Turtle, are themselves creations of a separate, omnipotent creator referred to as "the Other". The Turtle and It are eternal enemies (creation vs. consumption). It arrived in our world in a massive, cataclysmic event similar to an asteroid impact, in the place that would, in time, become Derry, Maine, where it waited for humanity to appear.

Genbu 玄武 in Japanese; in Chinese, known as Gui Xian, Kuei Hsien, Zuan Wu, Zheng Wu, Xuanwu). Genbu is always listening, and is thus portrayed as completely versed in Buddha’s teachings; corresponds to winter, cold, water, black, earth, and faith. The tortoise is a symbol of long life and happiness. When it becomes one thousand years old, it is able to speak the language of humans. Able to foretell the future.

Good try, though.
