We weren't saying that Blizzard straight up inflates the totals on their books - we are saying that Blizz CLAIMS the totals are higher than they really are. Totals are inflated by people who have multiple accounts, Chinese people who have to pay a fraction of the cost that Americans/Europeans have to people for subscription, as well as people who may have open accounts but simply don't play anymore. Basically, the consensus is the actual active player base is much smaller than that 14 million total. So yes, Blizzard is definitely inflating their subscription number figure when they market their product (they aren't telling Activision, the company that owns them, that they have higher numbers than they do...they are just lying to consumers).

Their press releases aren't aimed solely at potential players - they're also read by potential investors (and thus they have a bunch of legal disclaimers at the bottom). While not all of their subscriptions may meet your standard of an "active" player, they aren't claiming they have 12 million "active players", but 12 million subscriptions. That's almost certainly true.

They probably count people like me with 8 accounts listed on the managment page as 8 instead of 1. Several of those accounts are old trials or raf that I did basically for the mount using giftcards to Best Buy when I worked there. Whats bad is I still have one of those 5 dollar thanksgiving key codes that I have not used because I feel too lazy to set up another battle.net account, lol.

I don't think Aestu hates anyone or is pretty close to hating no one because I feel he views people from a logical standpoint and it is illogical and/or irrational to hate/love someone. If he's ever rubbed you the wrong way it's not because he hates you but because it was just cold logic.

Even if such is not the case, Aestu is a p neat person and one day I shall try and gank him. If the 2v1 I had against him is any show of skill though, he's probably the best prot paladin I've fought in PvP to date. Normally they just crumple up and die.

I found this in one of their press releases:
Quote:
World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees’ territories are defined along the same rules.

http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/pr ... tml?081121

I think the "Internet Game Room" refers to their subscription model in mainland China. So they wouldn't count your inactive accounts, although your 2(?) active accounts are probably counted as separate players. I doubt multiple account owners cause significant inflation of the totals, though.

I saw him in a wg battle when my mage was horde (and beyond horribly geared) I thought I possibly had a chance because he was sitting at the gate under the picnic basket eating. A few good shots put a small dent in his health, he hit me 2 or 3 times and I ran like hell to hide and spell steal buffs from the priest and shamans instead, lol.

Yeah, witness one of his temper-tantrums and let me know if this holds true.

PS: Until you have dragons, you aren't allowed to give pvp critiques, sorry.

I am here to judge the fate of your world. Don't take it personally.

I do, in fact, hate quite a few people - I hate people who are stupid or evil, people who can't be fixed.

The best? No. I see myself as above average, not amazing, paladin. I tend to believe I have average skill magnified by greatly superior intelligence and creativity.

That's no moon...

I don't remember that specific incident but it happens a lot. I'm quasi-afk, some DPS thinks he's got the jump, does superficial damage and gets chased off or mowed down.

I'd say that cold logic would dictate that you would account for human interaction being largely irrational, to a degree that you can't actually escape it. It is not actually logical to pretend you exist in a world that does not exist.

I don't think logic would ignore the way the world actually works. Emotions are a biological fact that stem from chemical reactions in your body, ignoring them is no less nonsense than the metaphorical ostrich sticking its head in the sand and pretending the approaching predator no longer exists.

That might or might not apply to Aestu, I don't really care.

I appear interesting and charismatic because I am both intensely logical and intensely emotional. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Anyway, let's stop talking about me and get back on topic.

Didn't you get mad at someone for calling you something along the lines as intelligent/genius/smart/etc? Maybe it was something in your story threads...

"The latency issue affected less than 1% of all players".

1% by Blizzard's definition of that 12M figure.
What percentage of the Aestu 500k figure was affected?
(even assuming that 1% has any factual basis)

Case in point - it's that 500k, not the big 12M, that really counts.

Unless you think your "500k" are more likely to be on inferior connections than the other subscribers, probably ~1%.

Here's a question - which will come out first, the Autobiography of Aestu, or the Biography of Aestu (with a Foreward written by Aestu)?

I didn't say you were THE best. Just the best that I have fought thus far. I 1v2'd two prot paladins and the first one I killed ran back and I had to kill him again after finishing his friend. That compared to struggling to kill you 2v1, I'd say, your the best prot paladin I've fought.

I've yet to witness one this is true but I would equate this to an emotion which is not easily controlled. I meant more along of the lines of hating random people in WoW or life.

Aestu wrote:

Hating stupid people or evil people is something I do too and because I feel, at least in the case of stupid people, it's just how they were born. I feel bad for hating them or being mad at them. It's like getting mad at cripple for not being able to walk or a blind person not being able to read. Just makes me feel bad in general but I just fail to see how some people can be so stupid some times and it overwhelms me. Given, some stupid people can be helped but most can not.

I doubt C-WoW players (who weren't affected because C-WoW and its infrastructure is discrete), players who don't log in, players who aren't players because they don't do any meaningful activity on their other accounts, botters/hackers/launderers, etc, were affected by this change.

I feel...pretty confident...the only people affected...were active Western subscribers.

Incisive thinking as always, Laelia.
