I have a growing list of countries I will never visit...currently this list includes: Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Most of the middle east, South Africa ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4613269.stm ), and now Egypt.

This is the thing that scares me about angry mobs...this woman was basically raped/molested/whatever by dozens and dozens of people. The violence against her, and other reporters during the whole Egypt revolution is just scary.

If you are American...or really just white, idk...I wouldn't venture to many countries outside of the US/Europe. Shit just isn't safe.

I also don't understand the hatred towards reporters? What is that? I remember hearing about reporters literally getting beheaded in Afghanistan...seriously, all they are trying to do is tell a story...hell even present the protesters side of the story. It just makes me sick that things like this happen.

What is wrong with people in these countries (beheadings, torture, cutting off people's hands for stealing, stoning adulterers, etc. )?

Anyone been abroad in one of these dangerous countries? Did you feel safe? Would you ever visit one of these countries? I'm seriously considering buying some land in Alaska, making a bomb shelter, and just hiding out for the rest of my life.

Just go to countries full of white people, those tend to be safe.

Or police states like China. It might suck if you live there year round, but it's great if you're a tourist.

This is true. My brother studied abroad in China and didn't fear for his life at all. He had a wonderful time.

Really Japan, South Korea, and China are all cool. North Korea would probably be sketchy...but who would want to go there anyway?

It's more a principal thing. If you aren't Jewish, you are treated as a second class citizen. I have no interest in visiting a country like that.

Also, the whole terrorist attack potential thing...and the fact that basically every other country in the middle east hates Israel...I'd rather not be there when bombs hit.
