and got burned. She'd have gotten less attention if she had been killed than she will for being fondled and beaten by a hostile crowd. Some reports are being careful to distinguish that she wasn't raped, as if that somehow makes things different. I'm certainly not saying anyone deserves anything like this, but rudimentary study of history and some basic intelligence should have been enough for her to recognize that it was not IF but WHEN something like this was going to happen to her. Ok. Now, it's happened. What's with all the feigned shock and outrage?
Dude, you should have read my "Why Azelma's afraid of many countries" thread. This was the topic that got me all concerned in the first place.
In any case, I see your point, every journalist was sent home days before because of unrest...but she felt it was her "journalistic duty" to go back and report the news. She certainly didn't deserve getting beaten/fondled/whatever, but I cannot in good conscience blame her for what pervvy fucked up Egyptian fuckers did. Her mistake was being too dedicated to her job as a reporter, perhaps even too driven to be one of the "first on the scene" that it clouded her judgement.
In her defense, perhaps she thought that since the protesters got their victory, they wouldn't be as hostile towards reporters? It's logical to think that jubilation is a "safer" way to be in a crowd then in a crowd of angry people.
Either way, it's a terrible situation, and I don't think "I told you so" really fits the bill here.
