I saw this earlier. It was poorly handled and completely unnecessary.

Another reason we need to stop sending our kids to be warped and emotionally abused by a bunch of passive-aggressive pansy-ass pseudo-adults who are afraid of the same ten year olds they vent their angst and aggression on every day.

The only problem here imo is the names overhead which makes it a threat.

Definitely doesn't constitute reading an 11 year old their Miranda rights.

One kid draws violent picture, includes names of classmates, the school and police intervene:

This is ridiculous, where was the intervention, people should have foreseen this!

Handcuffing the kid was going too far but if someone's drawing those kind of pictures there should absolutely be some kind of intervention. This is the kind of thing that can help prevent school shootings.

even if you're just in one 40 minute class or whatever for a person a day, it becomes pretty obvious if they're messed up. i've never really understood why it takes some sort of outburst for anyone to act on it, since the quiet people are ALWAYS the ones you have to worry about. at least that's how i've always seen it.

i mean really, what're you more afraid of? the kid throwing a temper tantrum like a 4 year old, or the one who never says anything and never reacts to someone pissing him off?

There is almost always some kind of indicator. You don't know the situation, you don't know what happened, you don't know this kid's past, you don't know his personality. The report only gives the side of his mother, it may be unlikely but this kid could be seriously disturbed. Given the nature of today's media it wouldn't surprise me if this kid was just reenacting something he saw and thought nothing of it. Either way, someone had to look into it.



He was drawing a picture, he wasn't throwing a tantrum. A picture of him shooting his classmates. That requires some sort of intervention.

When I was in kindergarten I drew a picture of an Indian chasing a pilgrim with a hatchet. The principal called a meeting with my parents because I drew a swastika on the Indian's forehead because I thought it would be a cool tattoo.

When I was in 4th grade I got an assault and battery charge against me for kicking the everliving shit out of some 5th grader that wouldn't leave me alone.
