I started losing a lot of interest in WotLK when they started bringing recycled content to the next level. Instance remakes seriously suck. At least Naxx did. I wasn't looking forward to it in WotLK after spending so much time there in original WoW and they some how managed to make it a million times worse than I anticipated.

And this thread made me curious when the last time I actually played WoW was (I scrolled/trialed a few times but just chatted shortly, never did anything)
May 11th '09 was the last payment on my old account (the forum banned one lol)
December 22nd '09 on my "main" account. Damn, it's been a while.

Also I noticed this, wtf? 1/18/11 N/A 1 Month Scroll Of Resurrection Reward. Apparently I got a free month for SoR that expired like 1.5 weeks ago? Niceeeeeeee

There is one big difference between the two right now that really appeals to me:

No fucking Ghostcrawler fucking things over on a whim...or because he wants to make life easier for w/e class he happens to be playing at the moment...seriously, fuck that sheep-humping cum-stain in the ass with a wood auger.

Hating on Ghostcrawler like this is retarded. Classes are more balanced and more fun/interesting to play now than they were for most of the history of the game, and the only reason he's such a target is because he actually communicates with players instead of implementing changes in a patch and never discussing the reasons behind them.

People don't hate the changes to classes because their particular class got buffed or nerfed, they hate his changes to classes because he chose to take the approach of homogenizing everything, changing many classes totally beyond recognition, and changing class balance way too dramatically and frequently, in ways that show a lack of understanding of the ramifications of the changes he implements.

People don't hate GC because of class changes he's implemented, they hate him because he is clueless, ignorant, and arrogant. No doubt your stock response, Laelia, will be "he knows something you don't", but in reality you are just - very characteristically - being contrarian and argumentative about an issue you do not understand, because it's clear from GC's many factually incorrect public statements that his understanding of how the game actually works, both mechanically and philosophically, is very poor.

I'm getting my feathers ruffled about these "cloaked buffs" which are happening now, where one ability is nerfed severely, but the class gets enough buffs that they're even more bonkers than before (read: Hunters getting 2k free attack power so their aimed shots hit for like 5k less than they did before, Druids going from 12k bleeds to being able to global people, etc).

People will always hate on whichever blue poster brings news of incoming buffs to other classes and nerfs to their own. The gradual homogenization of classes in WoW is annoying, but I imagine it makes balancing a hell of a lot easier. Instead of paladins bitching for an entire expansion about how much dick they suck when trying to tank, they work similarly enough to warriors that anyone whining about tank disparities is just terrible.

Tell me you liked being useful for Consecrate and Consecrate alone. Do it with a straight face.

Actually, I did. If I wanted to play a warrior I would have rolled one. I chose prot paladin because I liked the idea of a niche spec.

None of this addresses the points I made. If Ghostcrawler acted like most devs before him and didn't post on the public forums, this hatred (directed specifically at him, of course players have always hated the devs in an abstract sense) wouldn't be there and we would be clueless about even the reasoning behind the changes being made. You may or may not agree with the direction of the game, but I appreciate that there's at least an attempt to keep players in the loop. You say that classes are being homogenized, but do you recall how things were before? Entire specs were completely useless throughout vanilla and for much of BC, while others were so shallow that you could do top tier dps with 1 spell. I think it's quite reasonable to trade a bit of homogenization for a full slate of interesting and useful specs. Whatever criticisms you make of GC and the dev team need to take the significant improvements they've implemented into account if they're going to have any credibility.

People don't hate GC because he talks, they hate him because of what he says and how he says it, and because he has taken the game that players liked and turned it into something else. Has nothing to do with game balance.
