I am looking to purchase a secondary game to play during WoW boring times and/or should I lose all interest in WoW.

I almost bought the Command and Conquer super game pack but I think I can get them all for free or at least the few I want.

then I almost bought DoW2 because Usd mentioned it and it looked pretty good but it said it required an online steam account and I was worried I'd have to pay more money for that even though I have a steam account already (kinda like xbox gold and silver).

So tell me more about this DoW2 game and/or steam.

Not buying/playing Rift.

Also probabaly going to buy TF2 regardless of getting DoW2.

Near as I can tell (and have seen) Rift is a WoW clone done right. And by clone, I really mean clone.

The end question, I guess, is do I want to pay for WoW twice.

Rift could really be amazing and all that jazz but I've already sunk too much time into the MMO department and probabaly going to sink a bit more.

At the end of the day though, it started with WoW and it will end with WoW.

Will free me up if it does happen though to focus on other PC/Console games. I'm really looking forward to TF2 and possibly DoW2.

I've played both, and rift is more fun in most respects.

And they're not rehashing old content. again. Also tuhl, no flying mounts.

If they stick with this, Rift truly will kill WoW.

Seems like it's already putting a sizeable dent in it.

Lucky for you guys is all I can say.

Paying for Rift is paying for both WoW and a clone.

Paying for Rift is therefore paying for a substitute for sex with both a woman and her clone.

I've been back playing WoW for... last Saturday for a few hours, yesterday and today. I had cancelled almost immediately after I hit 85 before (hadn't even trained smoke bomb yet) so that's where I started from gearwise coming back.

I couldn't queue for heroics until yesterday. Today, I'm fighting for top of the dps meter in heroics. All of the omg uber hard heroic bosses... most of them I don't even know what I'm doing when we pull and I do fine (with the occasional lol-riffic explosion). Trash pulls are mostly the just as trivial as they were in WotLK, nowhere near as difficult as they were in the original lvl 60 5-mans.

Is Rift harder than WoW? Because WoW is... yeesh, too easy and too full of bads. I'm not particularly interested in playing it (or any mmo until the Star Wars one), but I'm just curious.

The three stacks of 'luck of the draw' made solo queueing lfd pretty easy. Heroics weren't bad in a guild group starting out, but pugging could be pretty rough. Now that people have gear and 10-15% extra dam/health/heal even the pugs can manage without too many deaths.

If wow was a s substitutes for sex with a woman, i would still be playing.

Still, rift is fun, and the community is pretty good on Reclaimer. the invasions are really fucking cool.

Basically a rift(minor major and raid) can open up randomly across the zone, and you and/or a group can run up, kill a bunch of mobs, close the rift and get loot based on how much work you did in the encounter.

The invasions are what's really cool though. portals will open up across the zone and all kinds of mobs will spew out and start heading for the nearest friendly quest hubs. after most of the mobs are killed, a big giant raid boss comes out and starts rampaging towards the main quest hub. shit is REALLY fun in contested zones.

thats just the rifts.
